I've been crying for like 3 hours reading all the sweet stories everyone has posted in the comments on his page. So many marriage proposal, baby namings and pet namings took place centered around Mike.

The remains of Mike IV and Mike V are in the Andonie Museum next to the LSU Alumni Center. Mike VI's remains will probably go there as well. I have sent a PM to Mike's FB page and asked that they please consider giving us fans a second line from Mike's cage to the Andonie Museum earlier in the day on Saturday before the game. Another suggestion I made was to have an in memoriam type service for Mike in Tiger Stadium before the game starts. I said the fans should get some sort of opportunity to say goodbye. They said they will pass it on to administration.

Did his original handler get to see him before he died??

Unfortunately, no. He will be driving down with his wife on Thursday and plans to be at LSU on Saturday. I hope the LSU family extends much love and gratitude to him for everything he did for Roscoe. From what I've read on FB, he is absolutely heartbroken, which is understandable.

and with the rise of social media over his lifetime, he was the most accessible Mike, with videos on youtube and his twitter and Facebook, etc. Losing him feels way more personal than I could have imagined.

Agreed. The high level of access we have had to him via social media plus his playfulness that so many people got to witness when visiting him made you feel like he was a real friend.

Sad news. Mike is what a mascot is all about. Pure class. He will be sorely missed, but there is another to take his place as a new Mike that all LSU fans everywhere will rally behind.
Sorry for your loss.
