Any hire made will and should be Miles' decision.
You think so?

I kind of doubt that's totally true

It'll be great if this is a play by miles to get CP to commit. Tell him we really want him, but we also understand that we need to continue the search in the event he doesn't want to be here. Set up an interview with a big name, CP jumps on the offer before it goes away.

Hopefully this is exactly what he's doing.

Pendergast and Oregron would be a homerun. Stoops is more of a seeing eye single.

So every defense he's been DC for except this year was a top 25 defense. His stint as a hc is what causes the gap. Not sure that should automatically be a knock against him.

Arizona was bad, but it was better with him than before he got there. His last year was obviously a disaster.

He's a risk, no doubt.

He was a defensive minded HC who's defenses were slightly above average. That's not exactly a highlight for the resume.

alleva, will pay if the TAf tells his bitch arse to pay. I worry if the TAF has lost the balls to tell joe that we are going to open up the war chest to win.

Actually I won't because I'm a mentally stable adult that doesn't cry over things like us interviewing a potential DC that might not be a great hire.

Slightly above average at a doormat (at the time) like Arizona is probably a good thing.

Looking at it more, he's sort of a Miles hire (and I know that could be looked at as a bad thing for some). Somewhat overachieving at a "little brother" school, including some big wins against top schools.

My amateur opinion is I'd rather CP, especially if O is part of the deal. The immediate reactions to Stoops were still quite dramatic.

You don't think its solely Miles decision? You've lost your mind.

No. I believe RB10 said the exact opposite. Only 1 top 25 defense and it was 22. Again, according to RB10.

People are fawning over Pendergast, who was fired last year and didn't coach this year. I'm not sure being fired should be relevant, necessarily. If I wasn't on my phone and had a sleeping baby on my lap, I'd probably want to look into his history before blowing a gasket. I assume you guys know for sure his is significantly worse than CPs.

My God. He was fired when the USC staff got turned over after a head coaching change.
Pendergast's history has been plastered all over the board for two days.
