Scott Long has an interview today with "NFL draft guru and Louisiana football expert" Mike Detillier, who looks ahead to this coming season and projects LSU as going 9-3. He also points to Ole Miss and says, "Real deal this year."

What does the Rant say to all that?

Since when does what I want the Rant to say matter? I'm just curious as to reactions and believe most Ranters are capable of some original thought until the tipping point is hit and "group-speak" takes over.

I say we could be 9-3 but I think we will be better. Ole Miss the real deal?? I laugh at that.

I thought it was interesting that Detillier thinks Clemson stole what Ole Miss did to LSU last season, and used it to beat us.

He is an expert, so he is never wrong. Therefore my opinion about us going 10-2 at best is not relevant

Too bad. I was hoping you'd expound on what you think makes LSU a 10-2 team this year. I wished Detillier had said more about why he thinks LSU will be 9-3 and which teams will contribute to the "3" part. I'm guessing he believes one of them will be Ole Miss, but he didn't really say.

I remember when Mike Detellier thought the Saints giving away an ENTIRE DRAFT to get Rickey Williams was a great move.

Clemson played great and LSU didn't. LSU still should have won.

Ole Miss will win the games they should but paired up against the big boys in SEC will lose. I don't see the powerhouses overlooking Ole Miss this year.

Sounds dead on to me... It sucks but other teams are surging like a&m and ole miss. Tigers will suffer from the "mass exodus" and struggle this year. 9-3 and several of the 9 will be nail biters....

Very, very informative! Williams is "the best receiver" he's ever seen coming out of Louisiana.

For the sake of really mixing the pot, I'd love to see Ole Miss emerge as the bad-boy team of the West this year, if for no other reason than the possibility they'd really beat Alabama. In the Vaught/Bryant years, that used to be a really great game... sometimes.

Coupled with a hoped-for victory over Alabama, aTm, and Ole Miss, that would put LSU in a great position for the SECCG this year.

Define "real deal" because they're not beating Bama, A&M, and LSU. So that's 3 losses automatically and no better than 4th in the West.

I don't see Bama getting beat by the black bears. Ole Miss is the new Miss St. 8-4 maybe 9-3 at the best. With arky and auburn sucking ole miss gets the spot as the team that could cause others problems. Not enough depth to compete consistently with the elite teams in the sec. Still haven't won an sec title in my lifetime

Also curious on his comments of hill pulling a Mathieu for 2013 by not playing early or at all for the season.

Comments?

9-3 would be a good year with the schedule LSU has.
