I seriously doubt Martin is a one and done player next year. I see him staying a minimum of two season. I haven't seen or spoken with Mickey before, but I have spoken with Martin. Based on my conversations with various sources unless he sets the college hoops world on fire, I just don't see him making a jump after one year especially if Victor decides to come to LSU (which he'll likely decide before the season starts this fall) If LSU lands Victor, they will be competing for a title run in the 2014-2015 season.

The only reason why I think he wouldn't be is because the draft is truly deep for next year. But he has the size, he has the athleticism and the potential is through the roof. Nobody expected Tyrus Thomas to be a 1 and done either but they compare very well, except Martin has a better mid-range game AND better size.

By all means though...

He hasn't gotten a ton of press and interviews, so we don't really know his mindset on NBA/college future choices. Hope we can get to stay as long as possible though.

You might not know, but I have a good idea based on some the discussions I've had with my sources of where his mindset is right now. I will say this and everyone can hold me to it too, if Victor commits to LSU before the season starts this fall, Martin will be there for his Sophomore year.

The reason he has only played basketball for two years is because he was taking care of his family. He didn't have time to play sports. You can only imagine that at the first chance at making money to play he will take it.

I know Victor has said he wants to play with his boy Martin, but if he plays as well as many of us here think, he may not have any choice but to take the money. Family comes first, and if this gives him a chance to help his family out then I'd imagine he would take it.

I preferenced my little debate with "unless he sets the college hoops world on fire"

If he does, he's gone. If anything less than that happens he'll be back.

With only two years of basketball experience, he has a lot to learn. He would benefit from a couple years at LSU. I would love the run that could happen if Victor came and Simmons and we held onto Mickey and Martin. Wow. Would be a spectacular year.

With the depth they will have...they should go 40 minutes of hell!

and I agree. That's another reason why I think he'll be back, but you never know how he'll develop once he's on campus.

Hell, yeah. That would be awesome. Just think if a team like that decided to stay together for at least two or three years like the UF team did that won back-to-back titles. LSU would have a team of that caliber.

I agree. Not only the depth, but the athleticism. Would be perfect roster for some full court pressing.

And Simmons is a 2015 guy not 2014. Sorry on that. Still like our chances. He is currently #1 SF in class of 2015.

Wow, those 24/7 profiles are very bare. Their Victor is super bad. Apparently LSU hasn't offered.

By SEC time it will be:

Hickey
Quarterman
Martin
JOB
Odo
No way Morgan or Coleman start baring some great improvement in the off season. Quarterman is too good a shooter to play backup to Hickey at point guard. He will still play there some but will be on the floor in some capacity most of the time.

Odo will be there for rebounds and defense. Martin is too good not to start and can play the three. Stringer and Morgan sub at guard. If Hickey goes out Quarterman plays point. Mickey subs for Odo or JOB and Coleman for Martin.

I know fans and players both get hung up on who is starting. That really doesn't matter practically. I think all 3 will get enough playing time from jump to show what they are worth whether they start or not.

And hopefully coach Jones and staff can find the right mix of playing time for this collection of players.

That's why I'd like to see Johnny schedule some quality teams OOC so we can identify our strengths and weaknesses early and get our best combintions on the court sooner rather than later.

Could spell the difference in making the dance or not.
