The divide of the haves and havenots are going to be more prevalent, less up-start teams, less upsets and less hope and realistic chance for a majority of fan bases that there team can grow and develop to beat top teams on any given Saturday. So the Appalachian States of the world beating Michigan in the Big House will be feats of yesteryear bc their star QB, who gave them a fighter's chance to beat them, TRANSFERED to Michigan over the past summer. No more Jake Dellhomes at ULL beating Texas A&M, bc both of his star receivers and running back transferred..

I don't know if this is true as there seems to be more parity than ever before.

It feels that way in the SEC because over half the conference fits into the “haves” category so they beat each other up. Indiana snuck up with a good season in the Big 10 (thanks in part to a favorable schedule), but it was the same teams at the top otherwise. The ACC and Big 12 had more parity because they are mostly the “have nots”. Some had better records than SEC teams, but that doesn’t mean they were at parity with the SEC, just that they didn’t have to face an SEC gauntlet. The chasm between P4 and G5 is greater than ever. G5 did not beat a single P4 team with a winning record and Vandy was the only P4 bowl team to lose to G5.

Technically, but on the same level, Northern Illinois beat Notre Dame, who made the playoff.

Put him in for some wildcat packages.

Hey dumb arse, wildcat formation is when a non-QB takes a direct snap. Van Buren is an actual QB. Smh

Yes, that’s true. I should have counted that one. It doesn’t materially change the massive disparity between P4 and G5.

I like having Van Buren as a backup next season, but he is not very exciting as the "heir" to Nuss. LSU can and should aim higher. I'd think LSU would be able to get one of the very top transfer QBs after next year if there is a clear starting job available here - basically what Oregon, Ohio State, and Miami did this season. MVB or Hurley may surprise me, but I see them both more as a fall-back in case no top-tier QB is available for 2026.

The guy that should have been LSU starting Center this year and last year, (Marlon Martinez #77) at 1:48 of the video, but Sly Croom ran him off.

Maybe they need to go through the history books.

Roster building today, particularly with QBs, is a year-to-year process. Coaches don't really project too far out into the future because players can leave any time. I don't think he was brought in to be the definite 2026 without consideration of any other possibilities. He was brought in to be the backup this year and to essentially audition for the 2026 starting job. You're encouraged because he's had some degree of success in the SEC as a true freshman...which means he would/should have a leg up in the audition. But he isn't really committed to LSU beyond next season, and neither is LSU committed to him.
