re: Mettenberger doesn't make Mel Kiper's Top 18 Draft Eligible QB's for 2014?

Not only will he be drafted but he will go in the first or 2nd
Round IMHO!!! Before you rip me to shreds Cam said his arm is second only to flaco!! We will have an improved O line better receivers and better coached receivers and more targets to throw to. The receivers will be running superior routes. Plus he has a year under his belt.

Mett could go off this year and win the Heisman, then they will all ride his dick.
And he could also go to the moon...

2014 is already being considering a deep draft for QB's.
Bridgewater, Manziel, Foles, Murray, Boyd, McCarron, Carr, Thomas, Miller, Hundley, and Renner.
Do you mean David FALES from San Jose St. ? Nick Foles is in the NFL.
I'm sure there are obviously 10 better QB's, but of the QBs that do get drafted in any given draft, only very few if any pan out and become good NFL starters to build on.

You did watch Mett last season, right?
Posted on 5/19/13 at 4:53 am to Sho Nuff
I think Mett may do very well this season but really, making a hairy deal out of him being low rated given his performance last year is a bit silly. There were ABSOLUTELY 18 better underclassmen than him last year. This is hardly something worth bitching about.

Im sure this has been said, but can anybody say with a straight face that Mett looked remotely close to an NFL prospects last year? He should be much improved this year and if he is then I am sure he will move way up on this list.

Per Mel Kiper Jr.....
"I think Ryan Leaf is more mature than Drew Bledsoe, he's very much a grown up 21 year old."
"Wes Welker is not worth a second round pick. I don't care how much you like his work ethic ... he has done nothing to show a value that high"
Kiper had QBs Dan McGwire and Brett Favre rated evenly heading into the 1991 draft.
“JaMarcus Russell’s gonna immediately energize that Raider Nation, that fanbase, that football team- on the practice field, in that locker room- three years from now you could be looking at a guy that’s certainly one of the elite top five quarterbacks in this league. You’re talking about a 2-3 year period once he’s under center. Look out because skill level that he has is certainly John Elway like.”
"Ki-Jana (Carter) could be the next Bo Jackson"
"He (Peyton Manning) isn't John Elway, Dan Marino or Jim Kelly, but he's as good as it gets in college football," Kiper said of Manning. "A lot of these teams in the NFL are desperate for quarterbacks and he's the best out there, with Ryan Leaf a real close second."
Kiper rated TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson as tied for the 25th-best player in the 2001 draft, and only the third-best running back that year, behind Mississippi's Deuce McAllister and Wisconsin's Michael Bennett.
He thought Houston QB Andre Ware "was going to be a great NFL quarterback."
Kiper was high on Southern Cal WR Mike Williams; Detroit took him 10th overall in 2005, Williams made seven starts, had 44 catches and two TDs, and was out of the league after three seasons

So the guy has made mistakes in his projections. Big damn deal...
Posted on 5/19/13 at 10:38 am to JBeam
Mett looked damn good against Bama, MSU, and even Ole Miss while getting hit play after play. Give him a good oline this year, and I think he'll easily be drafted
Posted on 5/19/13 at 11:23 am to TigerBait1127
I've never questioned his toughness. It's just hard for me to believe that he will shoot up the draft board and pass up a number of the QBs in this class.
My prediction: He goes somewhere in the 5th-6th Rd.

well that easily would make him a top 18 QB
Posted on 5/19/13 at 11:29 am to JBeam
His measurables will shoot him up draft boards at some point i he has even a decent season
NFL coaches are cocky sonofabitches. Theyll see that talent and go "yeah i can coach that guy into a good QB"

It's what he is known for...
I have a feeling some of you will be very upset if Mett plays well next year.
Posted on 5/19/13 at 11:53 am to whodidthat
He's definitely a top 18 QB! He will prove it this year! If Todd McShay said it I'd be a bit concerned, but Mel Kiper ain't worth a shite

The delusion is strong here.

There ya go. #4.
Sounds like kiper doesn't like Mett for personal reasons.
Maybe he hates his stache?
