Last monday night my family and I were driving back to Mississippi from Lake Charles and stopped to eat at TJ Ribs. They were having the coaches show there. Ricky Blanto was interviewing Charles Carmouch and then I saw this tall white guy in LSU sweats sitting close by. It was "Tuba" waiting to be interviewed!! Then Coach Jones walked in! As tiger fans from Mississippi, who have never been to a game or met anybody like that, you can imagine how we felt! Both young men were well spoken. My son got his picture taken with Andrew and he was very nice and polite. After the coaches show we walked up and asked Ricky if we could get pictures made with them. He said "sure"!! Then he called coach Jones back over and introduced him to us. They were both very kind to us! Ricky was especially kind! As we spoke about the teams and teammates I remembered listening to him play with at LSU he said, "Coach Jones will get us back to those kind of days"!
This is my first post as a member of the rant and it may be weak but I don't care
That was a very experience for me!!

I didn't even catch that

Glad you got to meet the coaches. ADP is a cool guy, knew him while he was in the band. My freshman roommate was a tuba player in the band, and he came over to our dorm a few times.

I have a basketball signed by the entire 1991 team and Coach Dale, but none of the assistant coaches... I may try to bring it over top TJ Ribs on Monday to get Coach Jones to sign it. Would be pretty cool.

Nice post!
I love that Coach Jones is so accessable. I went up and talked to him at a couple of my sons high school games this year, he is a class act.

I'm glad Coach Jones and the players take time for the fans. I truly believe we are headed into a Golden Era for LSU basketball. Thanks for sharing.

Ricky is a great guy, I use to play on his AAU team. Good fun coach and learned a lot playing for him. He does a good job calling games as well, points out things to Hawthorne regularly

My brother-in-law met a former LSU head football coach who could make you feel even smaller than him. And you know how small he is

Thanks! Actually I had shrimp and grits and they were great!! They are the reason I didn't make it to the photo op with ADP

Funny you mention this. I well remember seeing Brady sit down to eat by himself at the bar - maybe at DiGuilio's. He spoke not a word, and kept a don't come near me kind of presence.

It's understandable coaches may not want non-stop attention. The attitude doesn't help, though, when years later your job faces the axe.
