Crazy thought that idiots like me on an LSU message board want LSU Basketball to be successful.

Do you think he's a good coach? Or is he just taking the salary and that's a win for him? Is that your contention?

Btw, make sure you threaten my life again, as the stable person you are.

Winner winner chicken dinner! I do find it funny how upset some people can get over things that they have absolutely zero control over. I suspect it’s the younger posters with under developed abilities to cope with life.

Neither does the person you are replying to. They can't explain why McMahon is a "great X's and O's coach" despite the fact his offenses have been among the worst in the SEC all three seasons. They'll also tell you Wade was an awful "X's and O's coach" despite the fact he had elite offenses, nationally, in his time at LSU (until his final season). Of course, they'll tell you that is because he had "purchased" talent and simply just rolled the ball onto the court and did nothing further.

It's the same groupthink narrative that just gets repeated, ad nauseum, without any factual basis, because the majority of those to parrot it don't really follow basketball with any significant interest. They heard someone say it once so it much be true. I have a close friend who is the eternal optimist fan who repeast the same line. But when I ask him to explain "HOW" is he a good x's and o's coach" he can't. Just like those here on the board.

By every meaningful metric McMahon has been the poorest performing HC in the league over the course of the last three seasons. His winning % vs. major conf. opponents has been the worst in the league. He has the fewest SEC wins during that time period. His KenPom ranking, cumulatively, has been the worst in the SEC (and, currently, last in the league once again...including behind South Carolina). During this period his team has been last in the SEC in virtually every data-point that measures success. Yet, we have a small, but vocal contingent that continue to be the drum of "he's a good coach".

Unfortunately, the AD either shares that delusion or (more likely) can't afford to get themselves out of the contract that went so wrong, so quickly, leaving those who care about LSU basketball and those who might want to care having to suffer through at least one more season of hopelessness.

It is fair to be critical of CMM for many reasons. But he actually does X’s and O’s quite well.
