You dont know until you try

Anything is better than giving up 50+ points and 700 yards.

Clempson's been doing this for years, just man up, cover zero and bring one more than they can block. If you get beat you get beat

Bc our safeties and lbers can’t stay with anyone. We are slow. Other than Perkins and weeks.

While I agree with the premise of your post, I don't care what star ranking Sage Ryan was given. Recruiting services are flipping coins at most of these prospects. Ryan is physically limited and it shows out there on the field

I'm all for the man coverage but Ryan is one of the last ones out there you want in man

Can any of them play press? Even in man they often play far off-man and don’t react quick enough to receiver (or just aren’t quick) and/or keep cushion for too long. Then Bad angles by others after catches, getting caught still moving forward when receiver running by, and many giving up early including Toviano on one TD pass. We give up big plays anyway. Find at least 1 or 2 to get physical and stick to a receiver off line of scrimmage or stop inside move even if they hand off to other defender at times or get some help over the top or get beat. Other 5 cover 3 guys with 1 of them mixing in help over top or center fielder (was 2010 when we at times kept loston way back deep because he took bad angles trying to make big hits) or mixing in 5 pass rushers.

What’s the point of worrying about getting beat deep when quicker & easier throws with short and intermediate routes end up as scores anyway.

Our underneath drops and coverages are lacking as well. Have a very short window of actually helping in coverage and then can’t catch up after catch.

Under Chavis we always thought many players were faster than they were because defense allowed them to play fast by keeping things simple. Would quickly flow to ball to help tackle as well. We need some of that simplicity.

And that’s what happens when we plan man.

We played a decent amount of man last night. It didn’t matter

The zone is a problem but the fact they can’t tackle is the biggest problem. Not being able to set the edge is the 2nd biggest issue.
