Maybe Harris takes the route that Beckwith had to take

Last year week after week people complained about D.J. Welter starting over Beckwith. It didn't happen until midway through his sophomore year before coaches felt he had earned the job. Albeit the chief is gone to A&M but, it still took that long. Also remember Beckwith played DE his true freshman year. Fast forward to Harris. He played sparingly as a true freshman. I think the consensus on this site want him to be the starter. Maybe like Beckwith, seeing the game from the sideline may have made him a better player for this year. IMHO I think it's his job to lose, not his job to win. I think he starts against Mcneese St. And does well. He starts against Miss St. And it's his job to lose. If he plays well CLM moves forward with Harris as the true #1 QB.

It certainly could happen that way - it would be great.

But the bottom line is that Cameron prefers Jennings. And that preference comes from untold hours of seeing the two guys up close and personal.

Sure, Miles would be getting his wish with Harris at the helm. But just how much pull does Cameron have with this decision - particularly if Harris struggles again with the pressure of being "the guy"?

Which quarterback did Cameron recruit personally, and which did he inherit?

One of the most useless phrases is football to me is learning from the sideline. I'll tell ha what would have helped beckwith, actually practicing at mlb and getting game reps his freshman season.

You can definitely learn from the sideline man. You get a chance to break down what's happening right in front of your face. Sometimes, a young guy needs that instead of being thrown in the fire.

I'm not sold on Cam leading our QBs yet. He had one great year where we were loaded with NFL studs and one bad year where our offense looked like a cluster frick with some great plays sprinkled in. Year 3 we need to see consistency. Give our D some help and this team could be really good

So, Miles wants Harris to start, but Cameron won't let him?

Yeah, that is a good point. There is no reason to assume Cameron is going to be some kind of savior at LSU.

Yes, you can learn from the sidelines, but it's not much. Sure, it may help a guy get acclimated to the situation, but the best way to learn is game action. It's that way at every level of competition.

hell, the consensus amongst the entire fan base agrees. but, it's not a popularity contest and we fans really don't know shite (as a group).

we just thought there was a QB controversy last year. this year it could get ugly. i'm not forecasting this but it wouldn't completely surprise me if said controversy turns into a team issue with both the players and the coaches.

I have no inside info so I hope this scenario is merely in my head. it's LSU and with the passion surrounding the program this issue needs to come to a head this year. we need a starting QB.

Pass protection and who is gonna get the ball is a biggie for line backers , staying cool and collected is the hardest thing. For Qbs !

Which would be an absolute nightmare scenario. If it does happen, it's on Miles. He has a recent track record of effing up that position... Only the most important position in the game. With the amount of talent on the offense, if this year goes like last year his seat really needs to get hot.

you can actually ruin a QB's confidence if you just stick him out there week after week and let him get beat up. Some QB's can't recover mentally from this no matter freshman or senior. Jarrett Lee struggled with this his entire career after getting beat up mentally his freshman year.

I agree. It seems Miles does not know exactly what he wants out of the QB position. We have too much talent to field such a poor passing game.
