While I'm in no way excusing our multiple offensive woes, for the third time this season, our defense was undone by a mobile QB.

I understand Blake Baker is highly regarded and respected, so why has he been unable to at least slow down these QB's?

Or, has the issue been our players? All those guys we paid so much to get here? Are they abandoning assignments or coverage zones in search of a sack or making a big play? If yes, do we have no one on the bench who will "stay in their lane?"

If this were a letter to an advice columnist, I'd sign it "Looking For Answers."

It's almost like Whit Weeks matters to this defense

We still got torched in the other games with him in the lineup. It was the scheme which was the issue.

Even more than missing Weeks - for whatever reason, it turns out Perkins isn’t that good

He’s played terrible the last 2 weeks vs Pavia & Reed

Defending the RPO with a running QB requires your ILB to be very disciplined and decisive. Whit is that. Without him, you have the following situation:

West - has decent instincts but isn't fast enough to get to the QB sometimes

Keys - young and loses discipline sometimes due to the learning curve

Perkins - Terrible discipline and effort in the past few games. He honestly looks confused with all the activity going on around him.

I appreciate Perkins for coming to LSU, but if we're being honest, I think the defense would perform better without him the field every play. Rotating him in and out might help him focus better and allow Baker to coach him up before going back into the game.

Perkins stopped trying. he made o solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles in the last two game. that is 2 games 0 solo tackles (and we certainly know he had multiple chances) and 3 'assisted' tackles and who knows what that entailed..
The guy has checked out and LSU has basically played two game or more with only 10 players even trying. Very very disappointing

Yup...

How one doesn't go straight up man with Delane, Woodland and Picket vs Vandy receivers, contain Pavia and force him to make great throws is beyond me.

We had all the horses needed to throttle that second tier program and pissed ourselves in the face.
