He should have gone.
But someone asked him about the National Championship the other day on TV. He did not acknowledge it. He said college is the NC is completely behind him now. He was not going to talk about it. He said he was focusing on pro ball now and he was a pro.
Kinda separated himself from college. In college he said he he never dreamed of pro bowl, only a college national championship. In the interview he changed it to say all kids dream of playing pro qb and being drafted 1. So he is playing a part.

Joe did the wrong thing here.
End of story.
You get accolades that are awarded to you, especially if they are respected like the Maxwell, and you need to be there to accept them.
It's a bad precedent and unfortunately it was set by an LSU Tiger.
I love what JB did for our program and love his competitiveness, but it wouldn't of hurt for him to show his respect to tradition.

It’s embarrassing that we’re making a big deal of this rather than blowing it off and focusing on the fact that he’s our NC winning champion Tiger. There’s plenty of outsiders available to get indignant and criticize him. We don’t need to be more of those. Especially for something this stupid. End of story.

I have zero opinion on this. But this seems like the kind of thing this board would get bothered with if this was a rival player or just somebody else not named Joe Burrow.

Well, truthfully, all of that is behind him now and he's right to say that, I don't hold it against him. It was great winning the NC and all, but it's over, the party's over and now he's ready to move on and become a pro. His next step is to put on a show at LSU's Pro day and turn in a great performance in making himself the Number 1 pick overall to the Cincinatti Bengals. It's time to become what he's always dreamed of doing since a young kid and that's becoming an NFL QB!

Joe is fine. If a group of grown men want to get butthurt about a guy focusing on his pro day that's their own problem. The biggest issue in this thread I see is other people pretending that all of these awards are anything more than a bunch of money hungry power grabs.

This isn't the first time the Maxwell homies have thrown a publicized hissy-fit when one of their "honorees" (read free advertising widgets) hasn't shown up. At least a half dozen of their NFL Best Players haven't shown either.

Poor excuse and immature choice. All the past winners were “busy” as well. First winner in 80+ years to not show. Embarrassing representation of LSU. He’s done great things but he he really screwed this one up
