Brennan will be starter

Why would our back-up QB even have odds on winning a Heisman?
He doesn't.

No question. For a message board who got pissed at Chase for quitting, they sure do love the young kid with 1/4 the arm talent and accuracy, over the guy who had the greatest 3 game start for a QB in LSU history, and who didn’t quit on his team even when he had an injury that set him back 6 months or so.
Rantards indeed.

And led his team to a 1-2 record in those games. Look, I get it, Brennan had NO help from his defense. But the only one of those three he looked really impressive in was vs. Missouri. That's not to say he shouldn't be the starter, but a 4th year player lighting up teams that went a combined 12-21 probably isn't as impressive as a true freshman going 2-0 in his first two starts against two opponents who went a combined 13-9 on the year. One of those starts, albeit against a bad defense, he threw for 435 (more than Brennan put up in any game) and accounted for 5 TD's in a game where the defense allowed 48 points.

Let's face it. Chase "quit" because he was already assured of being a top 10 or so pick regardless of if he played a snap in 2020. Brennan didn't really have an option to quit. He needs to play to have a chance at being drafted.
Personally I don't really care who the QB is...as long as they are the best player. But while I'm not ready to jump on the hype train to say Johnson has "it" (the same thing said by overreactionary LSU fans about Lee, Jefferson, Jennings, Harris, at points early in their careers) I also don't think Brennan looked some surefire all conference QB in his limited action either.
I think the starting QB decision will come down to two things:
1. Who can grasp the "new" offense the best, and;
2. Do the coaches think Johnson's ability to run gives them a bigger advantage overall even if Brennan might be the better "thrower".

gonna be hard to win the Heisman from the bench
What a dumbass comment! Lemme guess, you think Brennan is better because he has a “stronger arm” which has never been proven, or because he’s an “incredible arm talent”

Not saying he won’t be but you seem certain, why? Based on what?

100 percent agree. We have an incredible qb room going into the next 5 years. I have thought since last years final 2 games that Max showed the most poise and ability to make winning plays out of him and Brennan. Its a very tough break for Brennan who i like and wish nothing but the best for. But Im Guessing: Max wins starting gig and has a very good year, Brennan transfers bc thats whats best for him at this point as he has to give himself a chance to start somewhere. T.J stays this year, but sees that Nuss is next man up and then he transfers next year. Then HOWARD comes in as the next man up. MAX, NUSS, HOWARD are the future. And thats the best 5 or 6 year QB outlook LSU will have had since Ive been watching. The future Is Bright Boys!

Cannot overstate this! I believe this so much that we’re gonna miss out on Manning bc of it and I don’t mind that given the reason why!

I can understand the argument for wanting to start either but to think you can look at a couple surface level qb stats and cast Brennan as the hands down no brainer choice to start is just not the right approach

Myles has a cannon. Moron. Max has to jack it up a mile in the air for it to go past 20 yards.
People get so hung up on the games he won not realizing it’s a team sport and this team was both better and not taken seriously towards the end of the season.
Even TJ won. TJ Finley. Yeah. That guy who threw a screen pass 100 mph

I think Brennan has the edge but I’m feeling a very tough battle between him and Johnson
Posted on 3/31/21 at 2:37 pm to doliss
He’s starting so he’s got a shot
Posted on 3/31/21 at 3:47 pm to MJforPrez
And the same TJ Finley that beat out Max Johnson to start the next 5 games after Brennan got hurt. If Johnson is so good how come he did not beat out Finley and could not beat him out for 5 games until Finley kept throwing the ball to the wrong team. Or we may never have seen Johnson.

How can he win the Heisman when he won’t be the starting QB?
Will he play another position?
Or maybe it’s the 2022 Heisman?

Brennan has better stats for the games he played. He was playing lights out before getting hurt

Agree 100%. Love/hate the offseason on here; some good discussions and then the lack of intelligence really shines in others. Remember the melt when we found out the spin doctor was gonna be the starting RB after the 2019 spring game.
