seriously?

awful.....just awful

our LSU baseball program is better than that

Quit being a politically correct puss. Its awesome and its true. Nothing wrong with letting the other guys know your best arm is coming in and you expect to shut them down. What do you think will happen??? Because that's on the monitor UGA will all of a sudden be able to hit an outside slider?? "The Nanny" Ott will blow a save or two this year, but it will have nothing to do with his intro. Its cool and the players enjoy it so quit bitching and worrying.

I don't have a problem with it, because the guy has earned the right to have it shown. He was so clutch last year. He's 5 for 5 this year. I know he gave up a two run homer to Pepperdine, but we had a 3 run lead. Could it be considered arrogant? I think no more than Hanover having a song say "All I do is win". It's music that the players like, they are family friendly, and it makes them feel good when they walk to the plate/mound. If it motivates the other team, so be it. Matty Ott faced the most extreme pressure last year throughout the season and post season tournaments with tying and winning runs on base all of the time, yet he answered the call and got the big outs.

As I mentioned before, my kids like it, and I have heard them at the house saying "Game over, Matty time!" It's all part of making the game a family atmosphere. In fact, last Saturday night they were upset that the video didn't play when Ott came in to start the 8th inning. The video wasn't set up yet, and they only had the music. Paul Maineri threw a curve at the video coordinator.

I can sort of understand the billboard. That is asking for it in a way but the music is fine IMO. Closers always have shite like that for music.

nothing to do with what i'm saying

anybody that follows baseball knows that it's a big deal when you show up another team or player. this is exactly what is going on and there is no way of trying to mask it either

baseball players are messed up about shite like this. is a ground is hit to the first base side and Matty has to cover, he better hop off of 1B in a hurry b/c runners might try to take him out

You are looking for a NCAA closer that does this only right? Because its done all the time in MLB. I think its for the fans. Baseball games can get downright boring sometimes (and I love baseball) this gives them some excitement.

Do you also frown on:

The Intimidator
Dean's song with an air raid siren
The BOOM video when LSU is coming to bat
The constant throwing out 6 NC's on the screen

Maybe we should do away with the big stadium as it tries to make us look bigger than we should be as well.

I dont see the major problem with this. Is it really low class to say game over when you bring your closer in? Everyone is thinking it. It isn't an issue to me. Stop being a pus, being PC was so last decade...

I don't think it's any more arrogant than having a giant billboard staring at the opposing players all weekend displaying your program's 6 national titles.

Rouge, I see where you're coming from, but I don't think it's as big of a deal as you are making it out to be. Matty Ott has not shown any over the top, or arrogant attitude, in any of his performances on the field. He doesn't point at the other dugout, or stare down hitters after strike outs. Now if he started doing that to add to his intro...

that's not asking for trouble

pull all that shite out after the game is....gasp.....over

When at a certain point in sports/life you reach a certain level of achievement, your presumption is not arrogance but rather a statement of pride in your abilities.

Given his record and play last year, I think that is more a statement of fact to intimidate rather than baseless arrogance.

I don't see anything classy or classless about this small issue. This is no different than footballers shouting "we are #1" and showing their fingers, writing stuff on the eye black - merely harmless bravado during games.

not even close to as overt as an LSU closing situation

now if LSU raised a win flag before the first pitch, then i could see the comparison

hell, i dont see why we shouldnt start this. start the stupid mindfrick before the first pitch

6 NCs = showing past dominance

Game Over = claiming dominance that hasnt even happened yet or may not even happen

get the fricking job done and talk all the shite you want later. i dont see why this is so hard to understand.
