With all the doom and gloom surrounding the LSU basketball program, MD has at least proven that he is an SEC level player. He's scored in double figures in 3 of 4 SEC games. In my opinion, out of LSU's top 4 players, 3 are freshmen, with the 4th being Green.

I don't think anyone is happy with how the team is playing, but some people were saying that Derenbecker wasn't even a D1 player. He reminds me a lot of Ricky Blanton and I think he will go on to have an excellent career at LSU.

Eddie Ludwig on the other hand needs to grow up and quick. He's way to timid to play at this level right now.

I look forward to watching his development. He's definitely trending up.

Some of us that actually saw him play in HS predicted as much Bubba. Never understood the guys who said he wasn't SEC calibre. Vandy has made the NCAA tourney many times with guys who's games resembled his coming out of hs. Ideally I would have liked to have seen him and Courtney R/S but times are what they are. When the current freshmen are juniors and with the guys already coming aboard next season this team will contend for the SEC. I'm still hoping Ross-Miller can come back on board after his stint at UNO.

Agreed. Things are tough at LSU right now, but there are some good things going as well.

Even Ludwig has shown positive signs. Ideally, many of these players would not be forced to contribute to the level they are currently, but there is no choice right now. I think the results will be positive when they are a little older.

I definitely think he's an SEC caliber player, he just needs to find some consistency. For instance, in the game Saturday against Ole Piss he scored like 8 of our first 12 points, hit some nice 3's and then didn't really do much the rest of the game. We also need to find a way to get Stringer more minutes, guy has a good 3-ball shot.

I saw Matt play in high school and I didn't have a doubt that in time he would a player.

He's not a hi flyer or a player to bring out the Wows, but he's a solid basketball player who knows how the game should be played. imo

We just have to hold our water for another year to see if TJ can land some of the Louisiana talent on the way out of HS.

I played against him in high school and never would have thought he had the quickness and athletic ability to compete in the sec but I guess he is proving me wrong. Not the first time that's happened

Not hating at all, but over the long haul he is going to have to guard MUCH better. It is great to score 12 a game, but if you give up 18, it really doesn't matter much does it?

People were of the belief this guy was good and ranked highly because he was dominant at Country Day don't understand how recruiting works in regards to camps, AAU, and travel tournaments. He didn't just do this at a 1A school against other 1A schools just like Big Baby wasn't just good against 2A teams at U-High.

At least he was thrown into the fire and will only get better.

Well, he did leave out "Gym Rat," which should be a required element in the Gold Medal round, along with "hustle" sprinkled in liberally.

But, as a long forgotten comedian once said, if stereotypes weren't true, they wouldn't become stereotypes.

"Black people do sit on the porch a lot and Mexicans do have a lot of black velvet paintings."

it was more about stringing 4 in a row. there are plenty of code words/phrases to use

There's actually a Times-Pic story from last year about Matt D. that calls him a Gym Rat. It's like people know the code words, but they can't help using them.

It's kind of like making player comparisons. I tried not to compare him to Ricky Blanton, but I couldn't help myself.

He should have been red-shirted to gain stregth and weight. He is a player that would be good his 4th and 5th year.

He is too slow moving. IMO
