Yes I agree that we shouldn't have taken that detour with Canada last season but Orgeron kind of boxed his self in when he said he was going to hire the best OC available and Canada was generally recognized as that at the time. Hope he learned not to do what pleases the fans anymore and just do what is best for the team. Now that his back is up against it, he has to do what is best for the team

He didn’t do this to please the fans

This was his pitch to Joe Alleva

This is how he got the job.

well that is your opinion and I respect that though I may disagree.
In my opinion Canada was a bit of a forced hire due to trying to get a new OC quickly with signing day coming up and with the promise to "hire the best coordinators". People would have flipped out if he would have hired who he really thought was the best OC available and called him a liar etc. (he didn't know at the time they would say that no matter what he did ). So Canada was generally considered the best available at the time.

I'm sure Orgeron saw what we all (most) saw at the time. A very disjointed offense that the players seemed to be having a hard time grasping. Canadas seeming thin skin couldn't take having Orgeron "advise him"

That's what I saw. But you could be right as well.

unlike you, i dont change my stance on what is a successful lsu season based on who the coach is.

you bashed a 1 loss 2011 while saying a 4 loss 2017 was a pretty good record.

you bashed a 3 loss 2015 and the told me to shut about a 4 loss season because Vandy and Kentucky would like the record.

youre not a lsu fan. youre some drunk pussy that has taboo mommy issues.

Then why did we fire Miles ????? I agree O should have not been hired.... he went 9-4 last year and it was his best record ever as a HC.... I don't see him doing any better than that for however long he is here....

so its ok for you to say this?

get a grip on reality.

I think it was both. The fans seemed to like it and I'm sure he wanted the fans on his side and Alleva seemed to like it as well. And no doubt he sold his vision to Alleva which played a part in him getting the job a long with other things.

I respect your version of how it played out as well and it may be correct. Maybe he didn't care what the fans thought and maybe Alleva hired him because he said he was going to hire the best OC available. I just think their was more to it than that.

oh my such language Ricky!

I would bet that Dukke V is as much a diehard LSU fan as most of us are or he wouldn't spend so much time on this board posting. While there are fans of other schools who do pretend to be LSU fans who like to bring extra negativity to the program I just can't see that with Dukke V.

later my good friends

I really think O wanted Kiffin.
And he’s said that and he’s said that he was reeeaally close to getting him.

Then he went and got a HC job at FAU.

Now that’s after O gets the job, makes the pitch tells everyone he’s getting the best Coaches available, meaning Kiffin and Aranda)

Then, Kiffins gone and he’s like whelp Steve’s got me this far Let’s go. And Alleva was like “um what?”

There were still other hires that could have been made that ran the type of offense that O wants to run.

Yeah he should have just left and forfeited his buyout. That would be super smart and show good “sense”.

I agree

I think Hiring a guy you like to run an offense you like is great IF THAT GUY RUNS THAT OFFENSE

I am very concerned about hiring a guy to learn an offense to teach a team.

I said it was A good record for coach O... Please tell me he has had A better one season record anywhere else.........

They were 7-0 and ranked 2nd in the BCS standings going into the Bama game that year and then lost three straight games in awful fashion before FINALLY beating an Average A & M team to end the regular season... YES it was very disappointing and a huge failure...

All I ever said was that UK and Vandy would have loved to have A 9-4 record... If you don't thik so you know NOTHING about CFB....

This had ALOT to do with Saban... He did NOT want Kiffen at LSU in any capacity.... IMO...

Dude was coming off a Broyles award invite. Fans on here and media generally applauded the hire.

That doesn't mean he was the best available. I know most people applauded the hire, I did too. But, I still don't think he was the absolute best OC we could've hired.

Maybe, but he took 1 million less than we probably would have paid him. He clearly wanted to be a HC anywhere.

Also FAU doesn’t seem to give a frick about character. They didn’t think twice about hiring baby Briles, like the pearl clutches around here

This was the official confirmation that Orgeron was still a bad head coach.

When good head coaches are placed into identical situations like Orgeron's was at LSU, they don't suffer 2 historic program losses in three weeks time. They just don't because that's what actually makes them "good head coaches".

quote:

But then the Canada thing happened and while I think Canada was/is tough to work with, O hired him and for the betterment of the team, do what is best for the team, not cause riffs and so forth. He didn't do that in my opinion. Not happy with Canada? So be it, hires don't work out sometimes but then go back to what you said when you actually got the job and have a search for a proven OC.

The more pressure that O feels the more mistakes that O makes. Publicly calling out players and coaches after bad losses and all the other drama that he's brought with him to LSU's program is worrisome. He has diarrhea of the mouth and there's nothing quiet about his personality or the way he runs the program.
