my guess is if you drop a midweek game because you're tinkering with your lineup, trying new things, and it doesn't work, it's really not a back breaker.

if you're dropping midweek's because you and your team just doesn't give a shite, then yeah that's a problem.

That’s fair, and I agree with the 1st part. But that’s not how I read it. If so jumped the gun and misunderstood, my apologies to the poster I responded to.

This team pitching is on another level from PM’s teams.

This is a pretty wild take 4 games into the season against teams that won't break the top 200 in KPI.

Mainieri had some great pitching teams at LSU.

This staff has potential, but that's a hella hot take.

Yes, which makes the op sound even more ridiculous.

I view midweeks as an opportunity to put guys in certain positions they may find themselves in for a bigger game.

Helps give you a better feel for your guys than practice alone does.

Pitchers for example.
Let a guy go an extra inning longer than normal against East Paducah Tech to see if he can.
Now when you may need that extra inning late in a game against Arkansas, you at least have an idea if that dude can give it to you or not.

To have a coach that actually gives a shite about midweek games. Can’t wait to see how Carolina fans react to Paul’s approach to midweek games

I think you’d be disappointed to learn how few games Paul actually lost in the midweek. He lost 1 midweek game in 2021, as an example.

I get where you're coming from here but it's not really fair to compare coaches in any sport prior to NIL & Transfer Portal regulations and after.

Jay uses midweek games to get backups playing time just like Mainieri did. We just have a ton of talent.

I'll be more amused when Paul has a team with zero left handed pitchers. Lol

It’s not if you watch the games. Doesn’t matter who you play you can see it. I’ve seen 12 guys pounding the frick out of the zone with multiple pitches with impeccable command. The majority of them 95+. If you know baseball then you know this staff is special
