Why is Aleva considered a BB guy just because he was a Duke. He already struckout once.

I don't consider him a basketball guy. I don't think you need to be a "basketball guy" to make a good hire as an AD. I know AD's that never even played college athletics. It's not a prerequisite. He played football and baseball I believe. He's been an AD for a while, I think he understands the hiring process and what he's looking for.

I'm just saying that we don't know where Jones is on the coaching ladder. It's not hard to imagine many of the names being thrown around turning us down. Likewise, it's not hard to imagine us just settling this late for Jones.

I've been adamant that I would prefer someone other than Jones, but I'll support him if he comes.

Hey all,

Transplant to Baton Rouge from Wichita.

I would love to see Gregg Marshall down here, but that isnt going to happen. He is happy in Wichita, and his family is happy in Wichita. He made 1.4 million last year and is set to make over 1.5 mil this year. He turned down 1.9 last year from NC St.

That said my predictions for LSU are:

Jones
Drew
Collins

Maybe Calipari wants to come and do a Saban (2 NC's at two different schools).

Really can't see Jamie Dixon leaving an upper tier school in a power conference to a below average program in a lesser conference. It would be like leaving Auburn for NC State in football.

Don't forget, Pitt and Syracuse will be leavint the Big East for the ACC. Perhaps Dixon would decide that he doesn't want any part of the ACC?

I think you have to at least make him say NO.

On the other hand, I think SEC hoops is on the uptick.

UK will make us all raise our games. Florida and Vandy are solid. Bama stands to be steady under Grant. SC will improve under Frank Martin.

If Arky and LSU can get back to where they once were....look out.

Seriously, why not? LSU can't get a premier head coach from a top men's BB program. Give a premier women's coach a shot.

Kim Mulkey, Baylor
Geno Auriemma , UConn
Tara VanDerveer, Sanford

If LSU somehow lands Steve Alford, I'd be ecstatic. Who could we get that would be better than him? I'm a huge LSU bball fan, but I realize that our program is not Kansas.

man... HS ball in La is so underwhelming right now though. Hopefully it starts producing studs more consistently for Johnny to do something with
