I don't have a problem with a coach publicly acknowledging a mistake by a player provided that he tells the player the same thing privately. He knows it, we know it, the player knows it, why not admit it? If the coach does it to shift blame from himself, that's different. But to come out and say something like "we struggled on the mound tonight" is just admitting what everyone else can see for themselves.

Who is the likely starter at second base? Assuming Hughes or the juco out of Uhigh?

Lighting a fire under a player's arse takes fuel.
I tolerate that much more than poormouthing team talent as a whole, or position groups, like guards/fwds or DL/OL in football.

He hasn't had the surgery yet. The swelling is still too bad. He'll have the surgery next week if the swelling subsides. He's getting around on crutches.
