The pitcher had been one looking him the whole time he was on base that's how he stole second so easy. It was more of good job by the pitch realizing what he had been doing then bad running by Mahtook.

Mahtook had taken off on the previous pitch that was fouled off. If you're the pitcher and just witnessed the attempted steal you're certainly going to be alert on the next pitch,

It wasn't a great play by the pitcher just another base running blunder by Mahtook.

From my limited perspective he appeared to be going on the pitch. In either case the entire Bama team and coaching staff was now on alert.

Getting thrown out at 3rd base with 2 outs doesn't exactly induce the ability to score runs genius.

I think it's amazing how many of you can beat down Mahtook when he is in the top of the league in steals and most of the the other worth mentioning categories. Next year I guess you will have to find someone else to bash, most likely it will be the most productive player on next years team. These Dumb arse post or ridiculous!!

Are you all saying that he does not answer to a coach on stealing? They should fix that.

I don't care if he'd stolen 2,000 bases this year, getting picked off trying to steal third with two outs is unacceptable. The fact that he tried to steal the pitch before because the pitcher was one looking makes it even worse, Mahtook might as well have told the guy, hey pitcher, I just want to let you know that you're only looking at me once before you deliver to the plate. Only a mildly retarded person would expect the pitcher to one look again on the very next pitch. You need to get off of Mahtook's nuts and realize that sometimes being a great player means you're held to higher standards, and as far as baseball standards go, getting caught stealing third with two outs is about as low as it gets.

how does getting picked off with 2 outs trying to steal third help this team?

What does he really gain by risking the out there?

He's a great baseball player, but he is stupid on the base-paths. I love what he's done at LSU, but it is by far his biggest weakness

He's 25-32 in steals and you say he's horrible on the bases. Ridiculous and you assume he has the green light. Just think it's a ridiculous comment to make when he's tops in stolen bases.

That number is just the times he has stolen successfully, it doesn't count the number of times he has been picked off leaning.

i have way less problems with him actually being caught stealing, but he gets picked off all the time

no one doubts his speed, he should be very good at stealing bases. basically, what josh said
