It's a tough situation. One that is personal to him. Obviously it's far more likely that he signs with the Astros if they get Aiken, but things aren't as cut and dry as may think.

Yeah, I would like to know how many high school pitchers have said "This is the amount of money over slot that I want." They get that money and then 4 weeks later say "Nevermind I want more money" and then go play college ball.

Not many, if any.

About the same amount who say, "I want this much money or I'm going to college," but still take less.

Would the Astros even be able to pay him the $1.5 million they agreed to if Aiken walks? I would think they run the risk of losing all 3 if they lose Aiken's slot money.
