The combination of size of these guys and the tremendous stress on the knee from their cuts absolutely makes every single one of them a “ticking time bomb”. But that’s just the nature of the sport. We weren’t meant to play football
Not a damn thing we can do about it unless we start braving all skill players which would slow the game down, and nobody would want that

tough break for the kid. we miss his blocking.
I don’t remember if it was 247 or On3, but it was mentioned that Bo Bordelon was used as a blocking TE vs Nichols. Looks like he will be taking some of Markway’s snaps, at least in short yardage and goal line.

So if Nuss were to quit today, he could enroll at USC, "walk on" to their program, and start next week?
Sorry the kid is hurt, but did some shady shite with this move

Pretty much lol the portal wasn't open when he left LSU but was able to go to Nebraska, enroll in classes, practice, and dress out for games all within 4 weeks because he was a "walk-on" at his new school. Makes zero logical sense how this is allowed.
If this is legal why didn't we get a handful of D1 "walkons" from other schools in August even thought the portal was closed???

Repeated stress on the body is 100% fatal, it’s just when.

I still don’t get it.

13.02.4 Contact. A contact is any face-to-face encounter between a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete’s family members and an institutional staff member or athletics representative during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting.
quote:
13.1.1.3 Four-Year College Prospective Student-Athletes. An athletics staff member or other representative of the institution’s athletic interests shall not communicate or make contact with the student-athlete of another NCAA Division 1 institution, or any individual associated with the student-athlete (e.g. family member, scholastic or nonscholastic coach, advisor), directly or indirectly, without first obtaining authorization through the notification of transfer process.
quote:
13.1.1.3.1 Notification of Transfer — Undergraduate Student-Athletes. A student-athlete may initiate the notification of transfer process by providing the student-athlete’s institution with a written notification of transfer and completing an educational module related to transferring. Notification of transfer must be initiated during a period specified for the applicable sport (see also Figure 13-1). If notification of transfer is provided during a specified period, the student-athlete’s institution shall enter the student-athlete’s information into the national transfer database within two business days of a written notification of transfer from the student-athlete or receipt of confirmation of the student-athlete’s completion of the educational module, whichever occurs later.
. . .
(b) In football, a student-athlete must provide written notification of transfer during:
(1) A 30 consecutive-day period beginning the Monday after the first Saturday in December; or,
(2) April 16-30.
quote:
13.1.1.3.4 Student-Athlete Withdrawn From Four-Year College. An institution may contact a student-athlete who has withdrawn officially from a four-year collegiate institution without obtaining authorization through the notification of transfer process only if at least one academic year has elapsed since the withdrawal.
How does a player walk on at a team without communicating or making contact with the coaching staff?
I could maybe see the argument that he is no longer a “prospective student-athlete” once he enrolls at the new institution. But 13.1.1.3.4 (the part about students who withdrew from classes) doesn’t say “prospective student-athlete.” It just says “student-athlete.” Which strikes me as fairly intentional by the NCAA.

He was.
By the way, one doesn't leave a program and simply "walk on" at another P5 program without there being a plan in place.

Yep, a true walkon entails random students going to a tryout in the middle of the semester. This seems like a "preferred walkon" at the very least which means a student signs up to play without a scholarship. This 100% was discussed ahead of time by the school and kid, you don't let a random kid into the facilities, workout, practice, and play on a D1 P4 team all within a week or two of being enrolled.
