That’s hit up elevator shaft.

Well, of course because they ARE all rehearsed. No one can talk completely spontaneously for 4 hours at a time with any consistency at all without preparing. He says in the interview that Honkus linked that he spends a lot of time on the roads traveling to games and this is when he prepares what he is going to say.
ETA: just like Jim Hawthorne, I will miss Lyn when he retires.

Lyn is a professional. He does his homework. He shares a lot of interesting tidbits about the schools, the players, coaches, etc. He seems to work hard at his trade and listeners are the beneficiaries.

I know im in the minority, but i cant stand his antics. Its not about him, its about the game. If its on tv i mute it

I totally agree. It's all so corn pone and hackneyed. It's nauseating.
I welcome the down votes.

It is exhausting listening to Lyn. I mute when he calls a game.

You'd have to be old to remember this but Lyn cut his teeth doing Alexandria Aces games way back in the day. I enjoyed listening to him as a kid. Christ how fricking old is the guy now??

I relate it to Buckee's. He's like the broadcast version of Buckee's. The masses seem to love the home spun type corn pone presentation. For me as I said before, it comes of forced at times. I know he probably stays up at night trying to come up with humorous sayings.....for me some hit, some don't kinda like Berman with the nicknames.
It's not nearly as endearing to me as it is to many, but c'est la vie.

Garbage arse, antiquated, old-timer one liners that somehow get a lot of praise. One of the worst announcers and horrible voices. I don't get all the love for him.

As a former announcer, I find that his voice grates on me, but he's been on the air for so long I've come to really like him- for bits at a time. Not too much all at once. At least he has a distinctive voice which adds to the original flavor.
I love his efforts to make his broadcast entertaining- his originality and homespun sayings:
"He's more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs!"
He could use some variety on the home run calls. They've been too old and overused for a while now so much so that they've become irritating for me.
But I think he tries to keep adding new material. You can tell he's having fun calling the games, and that makes it fun for the listener, at least for me.
Carry on, Lyn!

Just so the kids know, Jim Hawthorne used to call the train time way back when. Glad the tradition continues. Not sure if it was done before him.
