I say we play at 6 and tell espn/sec to be there or be square...Yes I know, we can't do that.

Normally I would agree with you, but here's my issue. There are other "traditions" in the league that the league has for whatever reason decided remain "sacred". For instance, the schedule can't be changed because Alabama MUST play Tenn. each year; Same for UGA vs. Auburn. Then, you had over the last few years A&M's desire to play a game on Thanksgiving. It was THEIR big tradition. One they felt so strongly about that they left the Big 12 (where they could play Texas every year on Thanksgiving). That meant LSU had to play on short weeks just to placate A&M's "tradition". LSU's tradition is playing night games. This isn't 1970 or even 1988 where only a few games a year were on National TV and the schools were happy to move a game time for the exposure. Now every game is on TV. If LSU playing a night game means it's shown on ESPNU or SECN instead of ESPN @ 11:00 am, then so beit. But if other "traditions" are so important, then why isn't LSU's?

You are spot on, brah. This is on Alleva, and there should be a protest and a huge backlash. Six homes games this year, and this is one of them. Ridiculous.

2:30 games are fine, 11am games are a fricking travesty and should be reserved for shitty Big 12 and Big 10 teams.

Didn't Alleva have some sort of deal in place that if we didn't get picked for the "prime time 2:30 CBS game" that all of our home games would be at night?

Absolute bullshite

Agreed this is BS. It should have been broken up years ago to form the divisions more correctly. However, there is a common denominator between those games and where the SEC office is located....so there's that.

A&M's desire to play a game on Thanksgiving

Aren't they stopping that with the game next year....this one is truly mind boggling and I have no theory to explain it....it is dumb.

LSU's tradition is playing night games.

So if this is the case and you want to hang your hat on it...fight for it (even though as you can see from this thread I like day games better). The last 2 ADs for LSU haven't fought for it....Alleva may say he does but it's quite obvious to me that he folds like a cheap tent. So until the admin gets behind the fanbase on this issue then it is a non starter for a talking point IMO. Fans alone won't get any traction.

If this leads to firing Alleva by God I will get on your bandwagon to start every single LSU game the rest of my life at 7PM pacific time.

This is what, I believe, most people are upset about. Not what the idiot (Peej) is clamoring on and on about. If we get picked for a 2:30 game, that's fine its the Big game of the weekend for CBS, but if not then our thing is night games.

They will if they don't show up. The BOS will notice shite like this and Uncle Joe has to answer to them.

The difference I see is that the traditions you point out are all scheduling which is done by the SEC.

The game times is more complicated because it's the networks not the conference. The conference and school can ask but the networks have final say.

The problem is if LSU is winning there will always be 95+....so this is going to have to be a scenario that gets O and Alleva....which is OK by me.

If AD, I would advise as follows:
"Dear ESPN and SEC Administrators:
On behalf of LSU and its supporters, we thank you for the opportunity to participate in a televised game at 11:00 am in Tiger Stadium. LSU plays its home games at night and always has regarded this as an important part of its rich, unrivaled Death Valley football tradition.
LSU elects to allow someone less fortunate to participate in a televised game at 11:00 am and wishes you both the best of luck in your early morning endeavors."

Joe Alleva don't have near the balls to do that....of course not many AD's in the country would propose losing an entire game's worth of TV revenue to prove a traditional point....could be what it takes though? Or the SEC and the networks could tell you to piss off.
