I understand what you are saying. Just personally dont believe it is specifically a generation issue. If you ask me I think the issue is the Greek sections
:kige:
I hate how we have so many self righteous people that act like they were angels when they were students. Students get drunk and yell terrible things. STTDB only started now because some drunk dumbass came up with it now. It someone would have come up with it 10 or 20 years ago, the students would have chanted it then too.

We finally agree on something. And I don't even care that they don't care...I just wish we could keep the song.

s not even an offensive thing, its the fact that these people cant understand what is socially acceptable.

I keep reading this argument. While true, that Tiger Stadium was a lot more rough and tough at one time, and yes we were yelling "a-hole a-hole" and "kick their arse". Again, true.
However, if one cannot determine the level of offensiveness that varies between "suck that Tiger dick" and "kick their arse", then I simply cannot contribute more. Thing is, I think most people get it and know the difference but are just grabbing for excuses to justify it.

Me too. There's no denying it gets the whole stadium and team pumped up. I don't think it's that hard to make a "sacrifice" and just not scream a chant imploring the opponent to give us fellacio.

Yeah, and the guys on the field are "student-athletes" too.

I think if they had never made such a huge stink about the chant it would never have gotten as big as it has.
They really should just drop the whole campaign to clean it up. It just makes students want to curse more (yes, I'm aware that is not mature, but it is what it is).
The only way they can maybe fix this is drop the song for 4 years so a fresh set of students that don't associate STTDB with Neck can MAYBE not screw it up. Anything else is essentially pissing in the wind.

I don't think it is a generational issue, like some of you say. It is just a 'student' issue. To say it's generational is plain stupid.

Agreed. It's an easy cop-out.

Yup just like with any kids. You emphasize not doing something, and it makes them want to do it more.

dude I let it go along time ago...I knew the students wouldn't abide by the "keep it clean" plea from the admin.
My question to you then would be..Do you like Neck or not?

If you believe this, youre as stupid as you sound.

This times infinity. It cracks me up with all the hypocrisy from the older posters that just ignore that they were vulgar students at one point. The famous quote from Dazed and Confused really applies here: "I get older, they stay the same age."
Students are always going to act like this, and former students complaining should remember they used to have the same mindset.

Is that why you end up in any thread about this?

My god shut the frick up. You are only hurting the cause you are arguing for at this point

Do you really think people are going to come to a school that takes away student tickets because of some cursing? You're delusional if you think it wouldn't have an effect.
