LSU vs Syracuse 9/23 - Visitor

Hey guys! Long time no post!
I'm back again after a couple year hiatus since you all played us in The Dome. As I mentioned then I really wanted to make it to this game (Game at Death Valley is on my bucketlist) and my dream has become a reality!
I'm flying down from D.C. with my mother to New Orleans. We will be staying at the Maison Dupuy Hotel in the French Quarter area from Wednesday until the following Monday(6 days).
Our seats for the game are in section 423.
I had some questions I thought some of ya'll might be able to help with.
Does anyone know about the hotel we are staying at and the area around it? Quality, etc.?
Any tips on places/restaurants/bars we absolutely have to visit while we're in town?
The quality of our seats at the game?
Do LSU fans open up their tailgates to visiting fans? We should have something set up with a group of Cuse fans, but I'm expecting this to be a night game and I'd like to mingle and share some respectful pre-game trash talk with some locals/diehards.
We're hoping the offense really takes off this year as Babers has said that it usually takes off around game 4 of season two (ironically this game). We have an experienced offense led by Junior QB Eric Dungey who has done some great things, but has also had trouble staying healthy (missed the Dome game against you guys). We also lost our top playmaker in WR Amba Etta-Tawo though.
The defense was a wreck last year. They were very young, so we hope for some improvement with another year in the new system (switched from attacking blitz oriented to Tampa 2 zone) as well as the addition of a handful of JUCO and 5th year transfers to bolster this group.
Thank sweet little baby Jesus we dont have to try to stop LF again. haha. However, we are quite aware that you guys have a stable of NFL talent backs that we still have to try to defend. :(
Overall, I'm hoping for another competitive game (that we win this time) against you guys and that both teams make it out healthy to start our respective conference schedules.
I'm really looking forward to this entire experience. I'm expecting to be a part of some legendary tailgating and drinking by your fanbase. Lets party LSU style!

I sit in section 410, the opposit corner in the end zone. Love the angle of the field.

Yea, you aren't going to be happy about Derrius Guice.
Tailgating is pretty open. RV lot is south side of campus along Nicholson Extension. Interior of campus near the Indian Mounds is another area to check out.

Thanks. I looked at the seat view website. Wasn't sure how accurate the view really was though. Seems to be a good angle.
I'm very aware of Guice. haha. I'm assuming there are a couple other monsters behind him as well. You guys always have crazy good backs. LA is such a hotbed for talent. Lucky...
Appreciate the tips on tailgating locales

As for tailgating, As long as you aren't a dick and have a sense of humor you will probably get free food or free beer if you're lucky. If you're a dick you're asking for it!

Any good fan will open their tailgate to you and offer you beer and food until you can't walk or stand anymore. Just tell them you're a traveling fan and want to experience the tailgate scene down here. There is a reason LSU is known for their tailgating.
I didn't know this was already a planned night game, which is 100x better atmosphere in and outside the stadium than a day game. You will have a blast.

It's not exactly a planned night game. We've just heard whispers to expect a night game which would be great for tailgating. I'm just hoping I'm still upright at game time. haha

I've heard of a couple spots, but not from locals.
I've also heard it can be dangerous around there. How valid are those concerns?
I'm really looking forward to visiting Preservation Hall for some groovy tunes.

Hotel is nice. I would def. recommend uber/lyft back to your hotel after dinner or drinks. Most of the area around the hotel is residential so you can find yourself walking alone for a few blocks, which I wouldn't suggest at night.

I'm all about having a good time and talking a little trash. It's all in good fun. We've always opened our Cuse crew tailgates to visiting fans. Shared some of our cuisine with them and had some spirited games of beer pong and cornhole.
This will be a difficult game for our crew to set up at because we don't have many locals to setup base, so I'm expecting something small which is why I want to find some fun folks that don't mind hosting a couple Cuse diehards.
Those of us that are making the trip are so excited to experience the gameday atmosphere at such a legendary venue.

Thanks for the heads up! We splurged a little for the hotel since it's our first trip to New Orleans. We wanted a hotel with a little character and a room with a balcony. Also wanted the full French Quarter/New Orleans experience.

The area is fine as long as you treat it like any other metropolitan area. Don't wander off the beaten path. There's lots to do in the area where you won't need a ride so really check it out by foot. You'll have plenty of time to rest and check stuff. Just have fun and take it easy but stay aware and alert at all times.
Don't engage with anyone that claims to know where you got dem shoes at.

There's I think three alumni here including myself so you're right on that front

I'm hoping to be wearing flip-lops for most of this trip! haha!
It seems like a really cool area to walk around. Mom and I like to get a little tipsy and check out some music, which the city is legendary for. We anticipate great times to be had.
