Michigan is playing in the Final 4 next weekend, but they couldn't beat the Tigers this season!

I recommend that you watch the last 3 minutes of this game, they are so enjoyable.

Man I remember the feeling of winning this game. When skylar dunks that ball my reaction was very similar to Wade's.

Hopefully the future is full of games like this.

Wade said that LSU scouted Michigan for like 3 months before that game so they were overly prepared and it showed. The first half was some of the best defense LSU played all season. The second half wasn't nearly as good. But a lot of that can be attributed to Michigan's coach. He's been a great coach for a LONG time (as is evident again this year). The upshot was that LSU was terrific on offense and it was the first time we got to see just how good Waters is. That Michigan team has gone on to become probably the best defensive team John Beilein has ever coached (they are 4th in defensive efficiency) and LSU shot nearly 60% that night. Waters controlled the game.

Unfortunately, LSU wasn't prepared defensively at all vs. ND and Marquette, and got blasted. But for one night, you saw the program starting to turn a corner. Sure, LSU probably overreacted just a bit to a win in Maui, in November, but just to see the emotion from the coach and team was great. Who would have thought that unranked Michigan team in a "down year" would go on to potentially play for the National Title?

Beilein is maybe the most underrrated coach in the country. First he takes over an 8 win West Virginia team and in 5 years wins an NIT championship and goes to the elite 8 and sweet 16. Then in 07 he inherits a Michigan team who was still on probation and hadn’t been to an NCAA tourney in 9/10 years. He has that team in the NCAA tourney in year 2, has 8 tourney appearances, 2 regular season Big-10 titles, back to back Big-10 tournament championships, 2 final 4s and an NCAA title game appearance. Not to mention reaching 2 NCAA tournaments in 5 years at Richmond and winning nearly 60% of his games plus a conference title at Canisius. The dude can coach and whatever the excuses may be, Wade beat one of his final 4 team with an LSU roster picked to finish last in the SEC. I’m not gonna jump the gun and say we will be in the final 4 next year with that number 3 class he’s bringing in because those guys will be freshman and nobody knows yet how the pieces will fit together. But if the recruiting stays at this level or a level close two it, once he’s stacked a few classes on top of each other we will be set up for deep runs in the big dance. I just can’t wait for next season to get here.
