Respectfully disagree. He and Chris Collinsworth on Sunday night NFL are the two best in the profession at dissecting plays (and predicting what will happen before it happens).
Verne is on his last legs, but don't blame Gary for his gaffs. Thankfully they have taken Musberger off the prime time games, so we don't have to listen to Captain Obvious so much.

Of course if you like Collinsworth you would like Gary. They are cut from the same cloth. Gary consistently gets plays and players wrong in his game casts. He rarely predicts things accurately and he's not adept at understanding defenses. I give Collinsworth the edge over the two but he's also wrong a lot but matches with Al Michaels pretty decent.
