LSU leads the postseason series 5-0

2004 Baton Rouge Regional

LSU 6 - Southern Miss 2

2008 Baton Rouge Regional

LSU 13 - Southern Miss 4
LSU 11 - Southern Miss 4

2019 Baton Rouge Regional

LSU 8 - Southern Miss 4
LSU 6 - Southern Miss 4

Southern Miss has hosted a Regional twice and has been eliminated in the Regional both times. Southern Miss was paired with LSU's Regional both times which as history tells us means you will automatically be eliminated and not advance.

Those numbers don't account for Jordan Thompson errors and the rest of the defense

Against Q1 weekend opponents, USM went 5-9 and was outscored 67-64. Their overall ERA is very pretty, but they gave up 4.8 runs per game against Q1 and only scored 4.6. LSU outscored Q1 weekend opponents on average 6.1-5.7. In context, I wouldn’t necessarily say the statistics favor USM.
