The sagarin ranking of elo chess did not update for oklaloma state. I know I looked at it earlier tonight and it was at 97 then too. Either that or Sagarin did some screwy shyt with his formula tonight. I've never seen a 97 elo chess stay at 97 after beating the computers #6 team.

I bet what happened is that he ran the numbers before that game ended and those are the only 2 teams (OU and OSU) that are unchanged.

Sagarin:

Vs. Top 30

Okie State: 6-1
Bama: 2-1

No way that elo chess number is right. Okie state with wins over Sagarin's #5, #6, #7, #13, #16, #29 teams.

The numbers did update... don't know if it's right or not, but check out the cached copy of last weeks results: LINK

OSU only gained ~.8 pts, but Houston just free-fell.

I think he may have ran the computers without the OU/OSU game finished. that would result in OSU and OU's score changing slightly because their opponents scores were updated (e.g. Baylor vs. UT).\

I am not 100% sure, but this doesn't look right to me.

I see the cached numbers changed, but thats not possible. Okie state went 6-1 vs his top 30 and bama went 2-1. Okie state plated the #6 schedule and bama played the #23 schedule. The numbers dont make sense.

Bastropbham,
I laughed at your post. I too grew up in Bastrop, but fortunately still live in La. Did you go to BHS or PVA? What year grad?

So once again, it gets down to human decision making. Hope that enough people oppose a rematch of a "boring" game (I thought it was great) compared to a great story game. Miles against his former school and top offense against a top defense ......

The Les Miles Bowl is on!

We are aware:

1. I am skeptical that those have been updated entirely (even though records have been)

2. highest and lowest scores get dropped, so bama needs one more computer. And OSU definitely jumps bama in Colley.

What is Bama's best chance at a number 2 computer ranking outside of Saragin? Or do they not have a chance in any?

I am in no way shape or form a math expert or a bcs guru. But how does a 3 loss oklahoma remain in front of Stanford or oregon?. Let's hypothetically say it's legit but damn shouldn't that boost okie state even more.

I also would like to say there aren't TWO best teams. There is ONE, and they were victorious on November 5th.

I know...if it is a question of who is better, LSU or Bama, we already know the answer to that question.

I actually thought they had an outside chance in Wolfe and Massey. I think OSU jumps them in both, but if Sagarin is right it opens the door. I thought OSU would pass Bama in Sagarin

This is all you need
BCS Computers

It comes down to Peter Wolfe and Kenneth Massey. Billingsley is not listed on the page but okie state is guaranteed #2 in that one. These computers are not audited by anyone so could be some hankie pankie going on with the formula tonight. Sagarin was the screw job of the century.

BCSman -

It looks to me like Ok State won't pass Bama in massey after looking at it closer - and that could be the end of Ok State if sagarin is right.

I still don't understand those sagarin ratings at all. He has OSU with a tougher SOS and better record against the top 30. OSU got virtually no bump for beating a top 6 team in his own poll.

It was a complete joke that ESPN would not pick a winner in the WVU/Cin/UL Big East race, even though it was a virtual lock that WVU would finish ahead, yet they all are so sure that Bama will be #2. I am not sure what their bias is but they almost seem that they have been coached as to what to say.
