Nobody can know for sure unless they've polled the 174 voters. It's likely that some of the voters are in the process of sifting through the information and deliberating their votes as we type.

Exactly. It's all just guesses at this point.

What time does the Coaches poll come out?

To me, this has the feel of an election day. Everybody's anxious, votes are being cast but we won't know who won until the polls close at 8:00 tonight. I'm guessing that ESPN will be reporting live from campaign headquarters in both Stillwater and Tuscaloosa all day today.

Updated early Sunday morning: I was very skeptical about the new Sagarin Ratings (because OSU got almost no bump), but they appear to be correct: Bama #2 and OSU #3. I had expected OSU to be #2.
So Sagarin just voted for a rematch. This is the problem I have with all these "computers." By his own data, OSU played the 6th-toughest schedule, (compared to Bama's 23) won the toughest conference (he still has the Big-12 #1 in his conference ratings) went 2-0 against his Top 10 (Bama was 1-1) and 6-1 against his Top-30 (Bama was 2-1) yet he still has Bama #2. And he won't reveal his algorithm because it's "proprietary information."
Basically, we just let some computer nerd who has never played the game get 1/6 of the vote on who we all have to watch Jan. 9th.

This x 1000.............Tell me what kind of formula says you have the best resume of your counterpart but a lower score than him in the rankings?
That is laughable.

The BCS needs to demand that all the computer programmers have a way of letting an independent source confirm that there were no data entry errors. Even better, why doesn't the BCS hire six independent programmers to come up with six different programs for the BCS so that they will be able to double check things in house in the future?

I am not laughing and it is deplorable. It is all about pimping Alabama to a title.
What a shame or should it turn out as a sham.

" By his own data
My first encounter with this phenomenon was back in 2001 right after TN just beat FL in the swamp to earn an SEC CG birth. In addition to just beating them in the swamp no less, every single piece of data he shares was in TN's favor, however, FL was ranked 2 spots above them in his ranking (not ELO). I wrote him, but never got a response. My guess is he's driven by betting and a consistent MOV plays a huge role. Bama is more likely to pay off than OSU.

This is gonna be funny..........OSU is gonna lose the computer ranking battle despite having more top 30 wins, more top 10 wins, and playing a tougher schedule than Bama.
That will be the biggest talk of the the offseason......How the computers formulas are kept a "secret"

Sagarin's program must have some really unusual quirks in it. He has Oklahoma ranked #4, Baylor #10, Kansas State #12, Texas A&M #13, Missouri #15 and #Texas #16, and Oklahoma State has beaten all of them. On the other hand, the only team that Alabama beat that's ranked in Sagarin's top 20 is Arkansas at #7, but they're still ranked ahead of Oklahoma State. If the Sagarin ranking is the deciding factor in keeping Oklahoma State out of the big game, T Boone Pickens needs to sue to make Sagarin release his formula.

Sagarin has been a very quirky and, in my view, unreliable measure of conferences and SOS for quite a while. Often it just does not correlate to what is actually happening on the ground.

This is true......but by his own data.........it correlates into ERROR.

And 6-6 Iowa State, which everyone is saying is such a terrible loss, is #29!
If you play a tougher schedule, you're going to lose more games. It's the same logic that has 11-1 Boise State completely out of the discussion.

So what the frick. How is okie getting screwed by the computers?

At tidefans.com, the game thread for the Bedlam game is 61 pages long. Do you think the folks in Tuscaloosa slept well last night?

looks like Sagarin needs to be called out this morning...

Andy Staples tweet:
Got e-mail containing Wolfe rankings (another part of BCS formula): 1. LSU, 2. Bama, 3. Ok State, 4. Arkansas, 5. Kansas State, 6. Oregon
If true, it seems that would likely hurt OSU's chances badly. You would need to see the coaches within 13 for OSU to be above 37.5%.
What to look for in Coaches (if all voters had BAMA and OSU 2-3, in some order):
IF OSU wins 4 computers, BAMA 0. OSU needs over 25% of vote...
BAMA- 1401, OSU-1372
IF OSU wins 3 computers, BAMA 1. OSU needs over 37.5% of vote...
BAMA- 1393, OSU- 1380.
I'm sure you'll have a few people screwing things up by dropping OSU or BAMA lower than 3, but that should be rare (should being the key word).
