Wow, after all these years, I see a replay of that play! I was in the student section at that game, and was going nuts because those two guys jumped prior to the snap! I knew I had seen them jump!! We thought for sure that's what the flag was for. When the facemask flag was called, I thought the entire student section was going to storm the field and kill the poor refs! It was still the best game I have ever seen in TS. My ears are still ringing!!

This is for 1915:
In the book Taylor list the Coach Edward T. McDonald, who was a 4 year letterman for Colgate, names the team Captain A.J. Ried and list the letterman winners and a few of the sweater winners.
He list 30 of the 56 players who came out for the team.
He list the team record with the scores and date of the games played. The team finished 6-2, having lost to a lower mid range Rice team (0-6) and routed by a very strong Georgia Tech team (7-36).
Not in the book:
There was very high hopes going into the 1915 season, as near everyone was back from 1914 and many thought this would be LSU best year since the 1908 team.
This team did not have the speed of the 1908 team and lacked a good QB or RB.
The seven points we scored on Georgia Tech is note worthy in that(this is in the book):
LSU used a lonely end play on the drive and no one went out to guard the end by the side line(acting as if he was on the side line), which lead to a 20 yard pass.
The next play Himes throws a 35 yard pass to O'Quinn for a TD.
McDonald would be forced to resign next season after losing to a weak Sewannee.

lsuexpert57,
Beta recorders were out by 1979 and if you had some big money in 1970/1 range there was a early tape recording machine that sold for up to 10,000 and I know 2 Doctors in BR who had that early machine.
Everyone needs to thank Doctor Andonie and his son for getting the us the good copy of the 1979 USC, he recorded the game that night and his son just gave Mac and Greg a copy that everyone is using now (the ESPN version).
One of my friends bought his Beta max in Dec 1979, and another got his in Feb-March 1980 and I got mine in Jan 1981.
The price was around 1500-1600 in 1979 for a beta recorder. Tapes alone ran into the 20-30 range.

Does the ESPN version have the entire game?? How does it look quality-wise??
The USC version I got from Mac was chopped up, and awful quality (that's not his fault)...

Mac has the new version, it is the whole game and far better quality.
Its a dual dvd version on his site or get it from Greg's site.
Mac, Greg, Doc and I are still trying to find the Jim Taylor version and Mac's Sunday night show.

Would you know of anyone who took some decent pictures that night??
I don't mean stuff on the web - like photos you can buy from someone - I'm having a very tough time finding any...
I'd also love to get hold of Ferguson's radio broadcast, if you could possibly help with tracking that down...anything is appreciated!

What is the web address for Mac and Greg?

John Musemeche took over 50 that night.
The picture you find on the net with Chris making the one handed interception with Kevin Williams trying to keep him from making the interception, is one of many John took that night.
I used to go by John's house and business all the time back in those days.
Mac's site: LINK
Greg's site: LINK

Do any of the fans who were at that game remember the "class" act of Charles White immediately after the game?

I heard about it, but did not see it. It was immature at best of him to stoop to the level of some of the LSU fans that night.

I can tell you that my brother and I recorded the USC game (the actual copy I posted in the link)in 1979 on a beta vision machine. My brother worked all summer as a teen ager to buy it. The game has since been transferred from a beta tape to a VHS tape and now to a DVD.
Some things people don't know about this game is that it was either the first or second game ever televised on ESPN. It was not shown live if I remember correctly. I remember listing to Ferguson as my family drove up and down Canal Blvd. I think it was shown maybe two days later. You can see the original ESPN banner hanging on the fence in the background. The announcer you hear on the link was Jim Simpson and some other homer.
Some of you younger lads would be amazed at how primitive ESPN was back then. 1979 was its first year and they did not stay on all night. There programming consisted of track and field and other stuff similar.
For you rantards--- you might find it hard to believe but the announcers for the game were up USC's arse all night. Yes, even back then you could say ESPN hates LSU.
Also, don't be misled into thinking LSU had no talent in 1979. This was not the Archer/hallman days. We did not have the talent that USC had (possibly the most talented roster to ever play in Tiger Stadium). We had several future NFL guys playing for the Tigers that night.

I'm pretty sure LSU was ranked around #20 going into that game...

Hope you enjoy, but I'm afraid it will make you sick.
All of the above. At first, I was so sentimental, seeing the old unis and such...
then watched the play..
then felt sick, and couldn't finish. Just had to close out the window without watching to the end of the clip

LOved the old unis. Both have changed only slightly, which is a good thing.

Unis were great with complete shoulder stripes and tear away jerseys.
