closest thing i've found to the purple pants yet

I was living in Alabama at the time, so maybe some of you can enlighten me on this. I think it was during Curly's era that the Tigers had tossed around the idea of changing uni's to all purple pants and jerseys and gold (GOLD) helmets.
This was a popular style at the time and would have been similar to what UW and Colorado (both very succesful programs at the time) were doing. Does anyone remember this?

Good. I dont have a great love for the canary yellow and lavendar unis we have now. I mean, theyre fine, but I'm not wedded to them. I would like to see a more intimidating color scheme. Darker purple? Gold instead of yellow?

How can you be so sure?
Everyone was banking on Gold jerseys for Florida and it didnt happen.
I wish we changed for a game, but I don't know if it will happen.

i just wish we had the gold that we used to have and not the yellow that we have now. Maybe that was the direction that the OP was going, but i dont know. As a above poster said, not attached to the canary yellow and lavender. That said...we still IMO have the best in the game

All white with yellow helmet would be my vote for a change. White helmet would look good too. I also like the white pants and helmet with purple jersey. The yellow jerseys should never be worn again.

The current colors came to be in the early 1950's. Prior to that the gold helmet and pants were similar to the old gold worn by ND, Saints and GT.
Several NFL teams have retro uniforms. I wouldn't mind a retro uniform for one game a season. Golden Girls have been starting the games this year with the gold retro outfits.

The white helmet/purple jersey/white pants of '07 is the best alternate uni's by far.

Agreed. They had no names on the back of their jerseys, and did not match at all with the white/orange helmets.
