After reading the article and between the lines, I think OrSU asked him to play ALOT of roles as a LB: blitzer, inside, outside, coverage (had snaps at CB), and this probably put him in bad situations. Here, he can play more to his strengths and he will have more help around him.

On a few of the blitzes, he is being blocked out of the play. It makes it looks like he took a bad angle but if you look closely, you can see the contact causing him to be forced out of the play.
