We need to beat A&M first, otherwise it doesn't matter.

The only fully acceptable name around here is Old Piss.

I disagree. We would bring more people and we beat them head to head. The only thing that makes us unattractive is the fact that we open there next year.

Nah. Bama, Auburn and UGA will all be ranked ahead of LSU.

LSU is doomed to one of the Florida bowls vs a big-10 school not named OSU or Penn State

True. However, if we beat A&M and Auburn loses, we'll be 2nd in the West because of the head to head with Auburn.

Do you think it matters if we finish second? Auburn will still be ahead of LSU because of the playoff rankings and thats what decides what bowl you go to.

doesnt matter. They’re ranked 6 right now and we are 18. A loss to Bama won’t drop them that much

As far as bowls are concerned, yes I do. If Bama beats Auburn, Bama will win the west and play UGA for the SEC championship.

Our head to head victory over them means something. Particularly being in the same side of the same conference. This has to be taken into consideration. That's part of

what decides what bowl you go to.

Auburn will still get a good bowl as well but my point is our head to head victory counts, just like their's counted last year which sent them to the Sugar Bowl. Sugar Bowl is part of the playoffs this year so that's out but the committee would have to recognize our head to head.

It is confusing, I will admit though. Consider if Auburn beats Alabama, then Auburn wins the west and goes to Atlanta. Bama would finish 2nd and we would finish 3rd.

But our win over Auburn will still count in that scenario too, making our win look that much better, so it does get confusing.

The bullshite playoff committee bases on what a team does during the season and not just what you do in the conference. If that was the case, LSU would be ahead of auburn in the playoff rankings.

Ordinarily yes, this is the case. But with us and Auburn being in the same side of the same conference and the head to head, that has to be considered.

But you are partially correct with

what a team does during the season

I think the reason we aren't and won't be higher than Auburn is because of the Troy loss. (Sorry to bring that up, I don't like it either but that really hurt) Auburn doesn't have that degree of a loss and higher quality wins (UGA), therefore they are ranked above us.

But the head to head will be considered, make no mistake.

Not saying I know all the ins and outs of bowl considerations but in this case, I think this is close to how it will be, should the events unfold this way.

Auburn made the Sugar bowl over LSU because they were ranked higher than LSU at the end of the season last year. After losing to Alabama they will still be ranked higher than LSU with the same amount of SEC losses. If Georgia loses to Alabama they will also only have 2 sec losses and will still be ranked ahead of LSU. There's no chance that we go above Auburn or UGA. The troy loss killed our ranking. We've barely trickled up the rankings in the past few weeks. It's going to be another trip to Florida.

I already said this.

We aren't going to be ranked ahead of them but the head to head will, well should, mean something in the big scheme of things.

That's all I was pointing out.

I think LSU needs to annihilate A&M which is unlikely and then have Bama embarass auburn which could happen. All in all I think it's unlikely LSU makes a NY bowl.

Yea I know. I was just pointing out that the head to head game won't matter in the long run. The 2nd highest ranked team after the SEC team in the playoff will go to a NY6 bowl. Our best chance may be for Auburn to win out with a close game against bama and destroy Georgia again. In that scenario both Auburn and Bama may get into the playoff so our only competition for a NY6 bowl would be Georgia. Even then we may not get in.
