I understand the reasons, but don't agree with them.

That being said - the Aggie band left ruts on the wet Tiger Stadium turf two years ago - it was a fun to watch peformance but was not helpful to already wet conditions.

They can still sing the war hymn about Texas Longhorns as LSU beats them down.

I sent an email to LSU, and I just got a call from them.

There is a risk management issue that they are working on dealing with. Adding an additional 350 people on the sidelines created a situation where the risk management people said they needed to address it.

In other words, lawyers did this.

Big kudos to LSU for calling.

I'm disappointed but feel much better about it.

?????????

Is it any more risky now than it was the last, oh, 100 years? That may work for the Florida and Arkansas games, but since the aTm game wasn't one with a visiting performer, that just doesn't make sense.

Any lawyers want to weigh in on that excuse?

It's not an excuse. There was an incident. They put in a new fence and tried to make it work last year for Bama and their large band.

Yes it is. Years ago there were not TV trucks with the potential to run over people.

What happened? What is the difference in the fence?

I'm out of town, so I really don't know.

I guess the risk doesn't apply before kick-off. There were probably at least 300 people on the field during TGBFTL pregame...all the recruits and their families, the boosters that they feature every week, etc., etc.

Very weird decision. I was wondering why Auburn's entire band came and didn't march. At least they actually played in the stands...of course our piped in music made it impossible to hear them.

Those people would be there at halftime too. Add an additional 350 to that.

Don't get me started on that crap.

Ya, guys anchor a thread with actual information that people are talking about.

Very few people in the big scheme of things care about watching the band at halftime anymore. This is not a real issue.

My first game ever was 1970 A&M at LSU and i was blown away by their band and have been ever since. They have never come to LSU without their band and they are not bringing them at all this year due to being banned at halftime. Instead we are stuck with some innocuous halftime concert and another great tradition goes down the drain.

I sent email also-no call however. I don't buy this risk management issue either. Funny we've been living with this risk for over a hundred years. Encourage everyone to send email- This risk management issue will get solved real quick. The A&M band is great half-time entertainment-much better for football than some stinking musical group. It's a football game for god sakes not a concert.
