Except shaver has won multiple nattys.

Look it may be time for a new face I don’t know. But acting like shaver has never done anything good for LSU track is ignorant.

Thankful for the men’s natty we got a couple years ago but yeah, it pisses me off that under Shaver, LSU often brings a formidable bunch of qualifiers to Eugene and then proceeds to shite the bed.

No I get it. I just find it annoying when people can’t have nuanced takes on things. Comparing shaver to smoke when shaver has multiple titles and keeps LSU in the running for titles is stupid. Did previous admin mess up letting Henry go? Yes, obviously. They could’ve done much worse than replacing him with shaver though. Look at oregons downfall the last couple years.

ETA: again. I honestly think it’s probably time to move on and get a fresh face in. But you can think that while also realizing shaver has done a lot of good for the program if nothing else by keeping it relevant year in and year out.

I just think LSU needs a new approach to building teams. The model doesn’t work when your jumps coach is a barely functional moron.

I pointed it out for years that the jumps program just magically became world class and our spring times were insane when Boo came back. Since he left shaver can coach up sprints well enough but we are back to scoring nothing with jumps.

Yea it’s tough when you’re relying on one specific group to score all of your points. I think it lends yourself to what we saw from USC men yesterday and LSU women today. If one or two events don’t go your way then the whole thing falls apart. Sometimes it works, but you really need at minimum two groups contributing big points to have a chance most years.

Interested to see if this recent investment in some distance talent pays off.

I just saw the men signed an elite 1500m international runner who has a solid 800m time. The men have been irrelevant in the 800 for a good while now…A&M has focused in on the 400 and 800 for awhile it seems.

That’s a bit of good news as Shaver has put emphasis, it seems, on a few areas that have led to boom or bust type results. Women were consistently rated in the top two and finished sixth. Not even sure where the men finished but there were five SEC teams in the Top 8 who were ahead of us. Not sure what the answer is. Florida has won three straight. They must be doing something right and their women’s team came in second just barely losing out to Arky. Are we not recruiting well enough in various areas where we need points scored to have a legit shot? Seems we are not hitting on enough cylinders to bring it home at the NCAA’s anymore despite lofty rankings heading into the championships. Such a great history at LSU, need to find a way to get it going again.

we need to be relevant in jumps again, plain and simple. Lane signs them and doesn't do a thing with them. insane Morgan Smalls hardly produced with her incredible high school career coming in.

Also we need to have an inside man film Arkansas' training on their women's side. they are recruiting way better these days but Lance Harter was incredible at developing unheralded runners and make them elite.

Shaver does fine developing sprinters, but it's a high parity unit and they don't have anyone else to complement.
