Same here. I thought with doing what they did in the swamp, they'd be bumped up to 1.

"LSU remained No. 1 for a second straight week, receiving 40 first-place votes"
Only gave up 2 1st place votes from last week. That's surprising. Thought Bama (12 1st place votes) would be nipping at their heels in that category.....
1 LSU (40) 5-0 1473
2 Alabama (12) 5-0 1435
3 Oklahoma (7) 4-0 1397
4 Wisconsin 5-0 1266
5 Boise State (1) 4-0 1248
6 Oklahoma State 4-0 1191
7 Stanford 4-0 1185
8 Clemson 5-0 1093
9 Oregon 3-1 1028
10 Arkansas 4-1 860
11 Texas 4-0 833
12 Michigan 5-0 812

The Tide beat Florida 38-10 on Saturday night in Gainesville, then received 12 first-place votes in the media rankings released Sunday.
LSU remained No. 1 for a second straight week, receiving 40 first-place votes and 1,473 points. Alabama had 1,435.
I figured Bama would get more than 12 first place votes after last night.

Maybe voters watched the game and saw that it was still a manageable game until Brantley got hurt? It was 24-10 and UF had just driven down the field (gave most of it back on the two consecutive sacks).

Bama held Florida to minus yards rushing with Brantley in the game. They weren't coming back last night.

Well, this poll I think is a much better representation of the true rankings. LSU/Bama are clearly 1a and 1b and the voters finally agree. Glad to see Wisconsin moved up to 4 ahead of the Smurfs; Wiscy is for real and could be making a run to NOLA. Clemson has a pretty good team too and they're up to 8.

Smurfs still getting a #1 vote.

Inertia is too strong a factor with most of the pollsters.
Unless something radical happens - they are unwilling to upset any order.
It is actual work to watch, observe and analyze around 30 or so games when it is better to just laze around and move a team up or down based on perception and sheep mentality.

A bunch of people here ran their mouth about how LSU should lose their #1 ranking because the Tigers "played flat", when in fact only one unit (the passing game) played flat.
A few of us even told them the nation would not see the game, just the final score & some TM7 highlights. Didn't matter. They still thought the Tigers should lose their #1 ranking.

Just what I thought would happen.
No way they would jump 2 spots.

Even before the year 2000, LSU's name was always more famous than it's record.

I was wondering why OU was still up there, and then I noticed that Ball State is 1-0 in the MAC. Makes sense now.
