Didn't this happen last year? We thought our D was great until Baker went up against a mobile QB.
They held up pretty well most games until the end because the offense kept them on the field all game.
Last year against Ole Miss the defense started out their first 5 possessions forcing 3 punts, a FG, and a fumble. By the time Ole Miss finally scored a TD, the longest drive the LSU offense had to that point was 5 plays. In fact the LSU offense never had a drive longer than 5 plays in that game until the end of the 3rd quarter.
The Vandy game was really the only game where the LSU defense just started off bad from the get go. Even against A&M, LSU actually had a 18-14 lead at halftime, then the 2nd half was just 3 or 4 plays and punt for the offense seemingly the whole way until that garbage time TD and the defense never got the breather they needed
A complementary offense that can give the defense some rest between drives and keep them fresher will go a long way. It's a huge reason why Kiffin was the coach we targeted for the job. Your are correct though in that this defense hasn't had to face a QB talent like Chambliss yet, we shall see, I'm not expecting a shutout because Chambliss/Lacy/Alexander are really good, they will make some plays. I just don't see the defense giving up 30+ points though if our offense is able to sustain drives as well, which seeing Ole Miss defense through 2 games I don't see why they can't.

Offense doesn't look that great this year..

I don’t really how people are looking at that statistic and are predicting that ole Miss scores 30+
Because we haven't seen a good offense to this point. Chambliss is a different animal. Now I don't think they will score 30 but I definitely see a world where Chambliss gets it to 27/24. Chambliss is the BEST QB we will face all season.

I expect Chambliss to be on his back repeatedly on Saturday

I agree our defense looks excellent, but be careful making judgments after only a couple games.
The first two teams we played aren't good. Clemson will be fortunate to go 6-6.
Let's wait and see how our D looks on Saturday.
