Does that ease the pain any for tiger fans? Other than the rocky start, they played pretty decently the rest of the season.

No because LSU is the program which should be one of those 3 teams.

The team was young. Very young. One of the few teams not to benefit from the extra year of eligibility from COVID

Paul just enjoy your retirement. We don't need your excuses anymore.

Yes, and I was going to say that, but I feel like the baseball program at LSU should never be in that position.

If we just hit a little bit in the first 2 games against Miss St, we prob get 1 of those - we should've gotten at least 1 from TN - Vandy thumped us twice but the 3rd game was ours. I think youth hurt us at teh start of SEC play more than the talent level. The team finished fine - I don't think the finish would have been much different had we started, say, 4-5.

Pitching mis-management and dumbass lineup tinkering had nothing to do with the team being young.

There was more in this team than CPM got out of them... quite a bit more.

Been like that for a few years now.

Freshmen went 1-16 on opening night of SEC play, 5-26 combined in games 1 and 2. Aside from Hill, pitching was excellent in games 1 and 2 against Miss St. As I said, if we just hit a little bit, we prob get 1 of those.

Pitching decisions and lineup tinkering were an issue even when we were winning.

We lost Watson, Smith, Cabrera, Duplantis, and others. Lets not pretend that not playing last year helped us in any way.

ETA: Henry, Hess, Gilbert, Peterson

The team this year made it farther than most tiger fans thought they would. It was still a below par season for our expectations. Proud of how they finished.

Are you gonna keep calling him Andy Johnson if Cannizaro is hired here?

Mainieri did have some tough breaks and the schedule was one of them. On the flip side their strength of schedule number probably got them into the NCAA. Pitching bogged them down this year. We need to bring in some pitchers or we’ll be looking at that next year as well.

Thank God PM coached them up in pitching, hitting, fielding and base-running. We could have had a really tough year if Maineiri didn't step up and use his expertise to coach our kids in all of those aspects of the game.
