Then, a bomb to Malachi.
Hmmmm...how was the incomplete "bomb" to Malachi any more aggresive than the 80yd. TD pass from Jennings to Dural against Sam Houston St. last year?...

im not happy to say this but Harris obviously missed an easy TD to Dupre who got behind the secondary but had to stop and turn around for the ball.
It's a touchdown if Dupre keeps running
God knows why he decided to turn around and back pedal like a DB whenever harris threw it,

A poorly executed swing pass, and a heave and hope jump ball. Oh, and a our fast guy is in, follow him cause he is getting it, sweep.
It looked exactly like we always do.
Of course, it is a tiny sample, but we only exchanged punts

McNeese was well prepared for every play. Does anybody think SEC coaches will be less prepared than McNeese coaches were?
I hope not...thats the key. Swing passes to the backs out of the backfield and the jet sweep forces teams to cover sideline to sideline and will create more opportunity between the tackles. It's an obvious wrinkle that many others have used, but it has to be respected.
Go back and look at when McFadden and Felix Jones ran the wildcate back at Arkansas....teams had to respect Jones on the sweep, which opened things up for McFadden between the hashes.
LSU ran out of a spread formation, got a true freshman defensive back with explosiveness two touches (something Mathieu and Patrick Peterson couldn't even do in their first game) and threw to their RB on the first dive and some of you morons are still bitching. If LSU keeps that much variation in their playcalling this year, good things should be expected. It's not just WHAT you call sometimes, but out of what formations and with what personnel.

It took LSU until November to run the jet sweep last year
Yes, these wrinkles are very obvious and LSU refused to implement that last year. The offense was adamant of running out of a two TE set often times even sending only one WR ito a passing route on play action. Teams stacked the box and with no respect for swing passes , jet sweeps, etc., they only had to defend the middle of the field making things MUCH more difficult for Fournette.
these small things they refused to do last year that we all said they should do seemed like they were going to do Saturday night. No, it's not enough to predict the entire season but it is certainly more promising than run out of I, run out of I and play action with Dural on a go route.

Some of you people are impossible to please. I'm with the OP.
We saw one offensive series. One. Try to be happy that Les mixed it up a little on that one series, instead of a couple handoffs here and there.
We saw two true freshmen line up in the backfield with Harris. We saw them attempt stretch the field. Oh, and we saw another true freshman who's very likely going to play offense, defense and special teams. When's the last time that happened under Les?
Oh yeah, the defense looked pretty damn fast and aggressive, wouldn't you agree?
I'm excited about the few plays we got in. Hell of a lot more variety than we're used to seeing from our team early on. I hope it carries over to State.

NEVER!
Not even with the best athlete this program has ever seen (Patrick Peterson) or with a player with ball skills that could be rivaled by nobody in the program (Mathieu). Miles literally did something he has never done before and the rant it saying he is too predicable.

The most veteran WR (Dural) needs to make better attempts at blocking on those screens. It was such a bad attempt it almost looked intental.

That would be true if it was Dural but it wasnt

You can't draw any conclusions by the beginning of that game.

It was almost as if Dural put on a different jersey and tried to pretend he was someone else while trying to make the block.
Regardless, everyone in the stadium, including the McNeese DB, knew where the ball was going as soon as it was snapped. He jumped right inside the would be blocker almost immediately. The first few offensive plays were highly predictable. That doesn't mean they would have been like that the entire game, but LSU surprised no one on their first possession

The mix up of plays was the best weve seen in years. Just give it time, it will all come together guys, geez.

ThiS thread is a textbook example of people seeing what they want to see.

Me too it's not just about the llays, but the personnel.

execution on the jet sweep and screen pass was really bad. the WR's didn't block and McNeese blew the plays up, esp the screen. WR coach needs to kick some arse as those type plays should be great for us this year but the WR has to execute that first block.

The toss dive first play of the season was demoralizing. Did not seem like we were setting up for a very clean/fun game to watch offensively.
LM just doesn't seem to take advantage of cupcakes to experiment and work on weaknesses...kinda glad it got canceled and we have to compete against real teams right away.
