If true, great to hear! He should be able to get some playing time, especially with QT out.

Les, is that you?

No! I do think he adds so much personality to the program. His quotes are amazing.

Good coaching will make him into a better player. There's more to players than athleticism. There is effort, technique and brains involved too.

He has the size, but so much of DT is technique that the young guys don't have yet. They are so used to overpowering everyone in HS.

Great news----just in time.

We don't need Valentine to be our savior this year. We just need capable backups to Lacouture, Bain, Gilmore & Herron. Valentine & Godchaux will add depth for 2014, no more no less!
This staff hasn't missed on many, so I like our percentages.

What makes you say he is Chris Davenport 2.0? Is it the same size of classification they played in Class 3A for Chris D and Class 2A for Trevonte V? Yes, those are very similar and that is where all similarities stop except for their size.
Lets take a look at both players:
Chris D- Mansfield High Class 3A- 6'4/318 lbs
Notes: He came in too cocky (5*) and wanting to eat as he blew up to 370 lbs before leaving for Tulane. Moving him to OL did not help him. He dropped to 335 before Tulane games and had 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks, and now with Washington Redskins as undrafted Free Agent.
Trevonte V- Champagnet High Class 2A- 6'3/290 in High School but made it to the 300-310 range during his Sr. Year. Now in the 335 range, and did not lose his quickness/first step.
The last 2 camps for Elite 4-5 stars he shined and was the best DL there. During practice for Army All Star Game he was the best DL or Defensive Player PERIOD!!. He was lightning quick for a first step and a TERROR for every practice session and in the backfield just like the videos of him Manhandling the smaller players lined up against him during Sr. Season.
Well, the players lined up against him in the Army Game were the BEST High School Lineman last year and all are on Major College Teams now.
Chris Davenport was very quiet in the All Star game and was blocked steadily by everyone. He was the one taking advantage of Mansfield's easy schedule and small soft competition, with exeception of Evangel.
Trevonte Val- True 5 Star Terrorizing/lightning quick first step with shear raw power. NFL body now, will dominate in College
Chris D- Over-rated in high school where he faced not great talent. Was exposed in Elite Camps and All Star game. Lacks strength and quickness and technique to be a major college player. Belongs at Tulane or Sam Houston State.

Thanks Mayhawman... just took a little research as I remembered Davenport's recruitment well and watched him warm the bench at LSU.
