Dale Brown did the same thing against Alabama back in the early 80's.

---

Yes but Dale dropped the banner before tipoff! I think it was wimp and he went after Dale. It was a beautiful site!

1979. Dale had them drop it in the final minute against Bama...then, they lost the final SEC game at home to Miss. St.

Last time we did this, LSU was lambasted as Classless.
Look it up.
I disagree with the classless narrative, btw. Dale Brown and his program deserved the excitement at that time.

Dropping the banner with time on the clock during the game against Vandy would be classless. Dropping the banner with time on the clock again Tennessee or Kentucky would be glorious!

That 1979 celebration was great. The Alabama coach at the time was C.M. Newton. LSU called time out with about 50 seconds left and the banner somehow was unfurled from the rafters. Newton was at mid court screaming at the refs, trying to get them to call a technical. The referee just stood there with his arms folded, staring at C.M. It was hilarious. Dale claimed the banner slipped down prematurely by mistake. ........The night Trent Johnson's team won the SEC, I happened to be walking out of the PMAC with Dale Brown. I said to him "Coach, that was a lot of fun but it couldn't hold a candle to your 1979 celebration". Then I recapped what I just stated above. Dale had a big smile on his face and admitted the whole thing was planned. He said that since this was our first championship in 25 years, we were going to make the most of it. And we did.

Don't sleep on Vandy. We haven't played them all year and this will be their Super Bowl.

You’re fake news. We clinched the title that year at Rupp. Good fake story though

LSU clinched at least a share of the SEC Championship at home against Florida. Then the next game they won it outright against Kentucky. Come on baw.

ETA: Another posted covered this before I posted this.

1979. It was LSU’s first title since 1953.. C.M. Newton was coaching Alabama and he was pissed they dropped the banner before the game was over. Even then, the blue hairs were leaving with 2 minutes left.

But it was typical Brown. It could have waited until 0:00. Dale sometimes lacked class and had a penchant for seeking the spotlight.

For real.

They brought UT to overtime. This game could be close.

We cannot look past them and have this great season end on such a disappointment.

I hope we come out loose, playing our game, and win by 30.
