props to coach miles for stepping up and opening up the check book. he might alienate some of the other coaches with this hire, but it had to be made. i'm pumped.

On the downside, get ready for pricier tickets

Seriously?? I mean, this makes me excited about the prospects of our defense improving, but, damn, we just won the National Championship 11.5 months ago!! You weren't excited then?

I am sure Chavis was consulted and signed off on this. Word is Chavis doesn't like to recruit, he is all about coaching. This makes sense Chavis runs the overall defense and you have O for the DL and recruiting.

Absolutely. But, when we decided to go with Malleveto it was hard to be optimistic about that hire and as the season wore on, the worse it got.

chavis is kinda liek pelini. he sits back most of the time but comes in to close the deal at the end.

Favorite part of the article (you gotta love Les Miles):

“I really don’t want to talk about new coaches at this time,” he said. “We have a game to play. But that's a good question.

sure, understandable, but to say it's been a long time since you've been this excited about LSU football is the overstatement of the century.

Head Coach of the Defense is what Pelini liked to be. He used to tell Les Miles to stay on his side of the field and coach his defense during practice. He was in complete control of the defense and all of the defensive coaches.

This might be exactly what Miles needs again to reestablish some hard nosed, aggressiveness to this team.

I see a lot of bad cop, good cop in LSU's future.

Miles is still the head coach. He will have to delegate. The REAL question we should be asking ourselves is do his colegues respect him enough to do so??? I have a feeling the answer is yes. The way he conducts himself and his buisness should be nothing but respected.

Is anyone else concerned about problems that might be caused by Orgeron making as much or more than the Chief?

It may be that Orgeron's previous SEC HC experience merits something on the pay scale?

I love these 2 hires almost as much as I love the DEAFENING SILENCE from the morons on this board that were screaming for Miles to fire the Co-Ds immediately, what is he waiting for, what the F*** is Miles doing, blah blah blah.

Once AGAIN, Coach Miles shows us his class, character, intelligence.

Look forward to great things for the Tigers for years to come.
