Chris Jackson definitely worthy of being retired - I wonder if he'd even accept though - dude is still a really grumpy, militant Muslim last I read. Lives in Atlanta and hates all of LA/MS for their "intolerance".

I think you underestimate Faulk at LSU.
He is the SEC career leader in all purpose yards, a 1000 yards ahead of Darren McFadden. He is third in the SEC in rushing yards behind only Hershel Walker and Darren McFadden (only 37 yards behind McFadden) and ahead of Bo Jackson.
Is he retired number criteria? That is debatable. But as a top tier running back who could also return punts, return kickoffs and catch passes, I believe he stands alone at LSU.
We may have a guy, in Fournette, who could match him now. If he does, it will be a glorious time at LSU.

It could be argued that Glen Dorsey is one of the 3 most decorated football players in LSU history.
2× First-team All-SEC (2006, 2007)
2× First-team All-American (2006, 2007)
SEC Defensive Player of the Year (2007)
Lombardi Award (2007)
Outland Trophy (2007)
Bronko Nagurski Trophy (2007)
Lott Trophy (2007)

They should just do the ring of honor but not retire any jerseys. When does it end?

It's the same thing. The only numbers officially retired, as in can't be worn by anyone any more are Cannon's 20 in football, Bertman's 15 in baseball, Maravich's 23 Petitt's 50 and Shaq's 33 in basketball.

To have a jersey retired at LSU, an athlete must have completed intercollegiate competition for LSU a minimum of five years prior to nomination. Athletes must have demonstrated truly unusual and outstanding accomplishments, exceeding and in addition to all criteria used for Hall of Fame selection. The athletic performance must be considered unique, such as winning of a Heisman Trophy or National Player of the Year award, and should be based on the total LSU career. Athletes may also be considered for making dramatic impact on the popularity of his or her sport or for significant participation in positive change in LSU Athletics. Nominees must have a unanimous vote of support from the Hall of Fame committee.
Story from 2009
ETA: Bolded segment of the above paragraph is why Kevin Faulk should have his jersey retired.

They did not retire Pontiff or Robbie Smith's jerseys, they just displayed them to honor them in passing away. They actually removed them from outfield wall once they moved to new stadium.
Now they are recognized in the baseball offices and in Pontiff's case his name was put on the hall of fame since they donated money for it in Wally's honor.

While we're at it, we'll retire Jack Hunt's jersey for catching that game winning pass for the "Bluegrass Miracle".

I think you could add more for football. Starting with Bert Jones.
I would 100% support Kevin Faulk and Bert Jones. Maybe Y.A. Tittle or Steven Van Buren, too.
