LSU actions were entirely warranted. A state funded university should not disseminate images or communications explicitly or implicitly endorsing one religion.

No.

When a photo of Episcopal or Catholic priests is uesd (that has happened) they don't airbrush a Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirt to replace their collar.

Thin line for LSU on this one. And a bad move.

It would be great to see a holy person with their face and body painted for a football game.

LSU WOULD NOT have censored a Hindu Red Dot, Arab Turban, Jewish Kippa hat, Pagan Pentagram.

Nor Should They.

Yet, they decide to censor a tiny cross on the side of a couple guys shoulders that nobody would have noticed if they would have left it alone.

What idiot thought this would be a good idea?

Lucky for LSU they are dealing with practicing Christians and not entitled Atheist otherwise we would probably be dealing with a lawsuit for publicity.

His point was that we handled this situation with care...many others would have purposely blown it up.

P.S. The students in question are pussies for whining about the airburshing. They essentially got to be the poster boys for a fantastic home victory, and their response is to lament some painted f*cking crosses? Hypersensitive.

WOW

Facebook made it an issue. Media picked up on it. The guy in this thread has stated on multiple occasions that they are not pursuing anything, including attention. LSU brought this on themselves for using the edited photo in the first place.

Secondly, calling out someone behind a keyboard takes real balls. I'm talking about the biggest balls...ever. The thread was centered around LSU's actions. You come in calling names. Yes, it's a message board. There aren't many rules. But to question someone like this without knowledge will lead you in the wrong direction.

Then they should not use the damn picture. It's BS.

I can read, and I know his point. He didn't make that point in a "practicing Christian" type of way

Your right TigerBait1127 I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I will let you eat your cookie in peace.

What I should have said was that because of their beliefs they handled the situation in a professional and non-confrontational manner. My point is we know how these things turn out if it were the other way around.

As a card carrying member of anonymous message board posters, it's my right to prejudge this guy based on his altered "LSU painted fan pic" as a religious zealot, and accuse him of furthering his own redneck causes to tear down the university I love. Plus, it gives me a thread to follow tonight.

Never said I was a practicing Christian and I would rather be blunt otherwise you wouldn't understand.

Funny how YOU can treat people however you want but you expect a "practicing Christian" to treat you with more respect.

I am not as good and loving as those guys so I would rather be direct in saying you have no idea what you even believe. Your just another lost kid looking for his Dad.

I can't understand why you get upset about a little cross. What is it about that cross that scares you so much?

I'm the zealot who plans on tearing down the university that you love? That's why I'm known as on of LSU's biggest superfans right? Don't try and tell me you love the university and I don't bro. That's beyond rationality. That's why we called Herb Vincent today and he personally apologized to us and we offered to serve his office just because we want to? Ya we're a bunch of zealots alright? If zealotry equals passion for the university and christ then I guess we are huge zealots.

Nothing these guys have done has anything to do with an agenda and definitely is not tearing down the university. LSU made the mistake here. They shouldn't have used the picture if they felt the need to edit it.

You have a right to speak your mind. That doesn't mean it's correct. Stick to criticizing LSU or censorship, state why a university should eliminate all references to religion in publications, etc. All of that is fine. But to personally attack someone and his intentions, without truly knowing or understanding them, will lead you in the wrong direction.

im really heart broken...

frick no im not heart broken... you agree to have your picture taken and alterned by entering the stadium and buying a ticket. LSU doesnt want to be strictly associated with a specific religion. Seriously who cares. Does this effect you in anyway at all, for any of you out there that really do care? would any of you be offended if they had swastika on their chest? or would you be complaining that it wasnt wrong? What if they had painted a dick on their chest? would you be offended or would you be like "hey thats awesome that they didnt censor that giant dick on their chest". Who cares... seriously. if you care you obviously not looking at how many other problems there are in this fricked world of ours. get a clue.

I got the sarcasm. "You" was a generalization, not directed towards you. But my point I was making was directed to those going after these guys personally. I just don't have much respect for people who do that (not that I respect anyone on here anyway ). It's sad when a group of young people are chastised for doing something they believe in. Apparently, being a Christian is not cool anymore.

No harm, no foul, sir.

I've already stated I don't care about the cross. LSU taking it off was unnecessary IMO, but it isn't some persecution against the Christian faith either. It's a non-issue that I find the reaction to quite entertaining and interesting.
