Games that are legitimate toss ups:
MSU, Auburn, North Carolina, West Virginia

So, I see LSU going anywhere from 3-9 to 7-5.

I would predict that they'd go 2-2 in the tossup games and go 5-7.

After this year's games against both teams, and factoring in the Miles decline, I can't see how anybody thinks we have a 90-95% chance against either of these teams.

Since the Miles bashers like to use the last 2 years only for some reason....we lost 5 games last year, we've lost 3 this year....that would be an improvement, not a decline.

UNC had preseason O-line problems. They played almost all second-teamers this year. Losing the seniors will not be as big as you think.

You are correct. I was looking at an older depth chart. It should be a good game.

Talent Gap is not as wide as people would like to believe it is.
It is VERY wide, because the difference in the #1 player at a position and the #15 player at a position, especially a skill position is huge. It's the difference between an elite player and just a good player at the college level. In the NFL that there is not that much of a difference, because all of the NFL teams are taking elite players in the 1st two rounds, but in college, elite players are the difference between 1-2 losses and 3-4 losses per year.

11-1 The loss will be against unranked team, probably after Bama or UF win. We will be MUCH better next year.

I think about 9 - 3, but on a game by game basis I BELIEVE we have a chance to win every one of them - but we won't.

If I had to predict losses, I'd say:

MSU at home b/c they are much better and we've won so many in a row, it's bound to end sometime.

AU - another team that is greatly improved and I think they play us tough in Auburn.

UT or AR -- Little Rock is not friendly to LSU and UT is an unknown next season IMHO.

that means we'd beat UF in Gainsville and Bama at home --- at this point I don't think that's too far a stretch b/c UF takes a little step back and Bama has 2 in a row but they've been close enough that I believe it turns in our favor next year --- really thought we'd win THIS year - but the JJ ankle and Scott injuries (not be mention the bad calls) worked against us.

9 - 3 - could be a game worse - could be a game (maybe 2) better if we get back some of the swagger we had in 2007.

I can't realistically see us going 12 - 0 but again week to week - I don't see any games where we are obvious underdogs - just MHO.

Bingo!!

It's really been kinda amusing this season to watch the hoops some have jumped threw to push their "decline" of the program agenda.

We started the season with claims that nothing had changed with the D after the Washington game, it sucked, and we were doomed. After the Vandy game the cry was we were doomed to another SEC losing season. After the Miss. State game it was proclaimed that Ga, Fla, and Aub would run our D into the ground and all three teams would crush us.

None of that happened and it begins to look like we might in fact have a better SEC season than in 08. So, the decliners then shifted to the 2 yr SEC record to push the decline and proclaimed as well that our scheduled sucked. Yes, that's the same schedule the BCS SOS ranks as #13.

You have to give then an A for their 1/2 adjustments, huh.

And before anyone has a cow, I'm not saying the program hasn't dropped off from 07. Only that was no reasonable person can talk decline from 08 to 09 and I pretty sure when Joe and Les meet to talk the 09 season Joe will not start if off with since the program has declined since our chat at this time last yr..........

Nice assessment deithree.
I believe ultimately that LSU will be better on offense and defense next year, take a slight hit on 'teams due to TH departing, and possibly be due for a few breaks like 'Bama and UF got this season.
That being said, I would be happy with 9 wins again against that schedule. If the expected improvements come to fruition and they avoid 'Bama-type officiating and Ole Mrs type brain farts the talent will be their to compete against anyone they play.

It's warmer here in DC today than it was yesterday, but both days have been colder than any day in August was. It's early December, and January and February still lie ahead. The temperatures are declining...

...just like the LSU football program.

I feel pretty good about going to the Swamp and winning

That will never happen while Les Miles is coaching at LSU, especially not while Urban Meyer is coaching at Florida.

Les Miles will never beat Florida or Alabama again. Ever. Ole Miss is starting to look like a perennial loss, too, and will likely get there within the next couple of years. Arkansas probably joins the group if Petrino gets rolling and stays. Auburn and Mississippi State are the only two perennial opponents we have a prayer of keeping up with under Les Miles, and with Auburn it's just a matter of time until they overtake us.

Ole Miss is losing a lot and Mallett is supposed to declare for the draft, IIRC. Tennessee to this point doesn't seem to have enough to beat LSU. Mississippi State will be a dangerous 'dog, but I don't think they get the upset. Unless Auburn gets much-needed QUALITY depth on defense and finds a quarterback, I don't see LSU losing, even on the road. North Carolina doesn't really worry me,

Best case scenario, LSU wins three of those games. More likely, two.

Actually, you're wrong about many of us, in fact, we were program 'defenders' and routinely took up for Miles. It was only after the horrific showing vs. La. Tech and then of course the Ole Miss clusterfrick that many of us reasonable fans jumped of the Miles bandwagon.

The fact that you can't see that a major seachange has occurred with respect to the fans excitement and that confidence in the program has RADICALLY declined in the last month or so says to me you have blinders on and are a purple and gold flag waver or Miles apologist.

You try to lump everyone into a group of Miles haters since 2005, when in reality many of the people speaking up now and protesting where the program is headed didn't start doing so up until recently. the fact is, Miles has lost the confidence of tens of thousands of loyal tiger fans in the last month or so.

I can't let this go. I'm calling you out on it and it's time to put up or shut up.

I'll give you every benefit and let you have 7-5 and its still a dumb prediction. I'll take over 7 wins and you name the terms!

I see a lot of people on this thread that are going to be very upset next year. Well actually, kind of reminds me of similar thread the past 2 years. The fact that people are laughing off a neutral site game in the first game of the season because it is UNC shows their knowledge of CFB. Losing half their line or not, this isn't your fathers UNC. And this won't be a team coming off a winless year either. I'm guessing we have a miracle or two like MSU this year and get an 8-4 season, tell Miles to pack it up, and thats it. 11-1? Please.

I'm glad I read all the posts before posting what you said.
There are about 50 guys on here that should just move to Alabama or Florida. What a bunch of WHINERS!
Tigers will do fine next year 10-2 minimum, look for the WHINERS to jump back on the wagon when we win the WEST. Well, I better think about that last statement. They will probably NOT be happy about that cuz we didn't win it CONVINCINGLY enough, and Miles wasted a TO in game 6.

See this is the problem. 10-2 at MINIMUM? Jesus Christ you are the same guys who are coming after JJ aren't you? We're not playing in the PAC 10 here. I would love to see a 10-2 and think we have the talent, but to say at MINIMUM shows that you disrespect the up and coming programs in the SEC, disrespect our perennial rival in UF, and disrespect our OOC games this year. It's like the guy who said 11-1. Don't do that to our kids, seriously.

Show me where I have critisized JJ. I have supported the players all along. Is predicting 10-2 somehow WORSE than 6-6 5-7 as some idiots have in this thread?
What exactly are we doing to the kids by making optimistic predictions?
