When does the dead period for recruiting end? I would imagine they would want someone in place and ready for that.

I have no idea 
but I'm sure they want this wrapped up as quickly as possible. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if it was done mid-week.

Dead Period is over on Monday I believe. It would be HUGE to have a new DC in place by that time IMO

I agree. That DE from Tennessee seems very interested in what's going on.

we may be the only ones that understand urgency. A hire this weekend of CP would turn the head of every recruit-- the brakes would go on for many recruits-

Yeah we need to get this done ASAP. But I would say if we have to wait one more week to get a better DC I say it's worth it to take a slight hit in recruiting.

Yes and no. Isn't there a rule that the head coach of a team that loses an assistant can take extra visits with recruits until they hire someone else?
It might not be bad to have Miles able to take those extra visits. Even better if he could tell recruits that the new DC will be so and so (say Pendergast if it's him) and that the signing of papers is just a formality or something like that.

Imagine for a second you are a 4* Defensive Senior. You are considering, aTm, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Florida State. Every coach would use to their advantage the fact that we don't have a D cord.

That's just it. I really don't care about losing Chavis. I just want to make sure it doesn't kill us in recruiting.

The lack of recruiting angle on CP in a non-factor to me. If there are plans to bring in O in some capacity as well, the easiest way to do that is to hire CP. Orgeron makes up for any of CP's recruiting shortcomings easily. From what I've read, football is CP's life. Eats, drinks, sleeps it.

I have little confidence in Alleva and Miles to get this right. I just don't. Miles handling of the QB situation. Like saying stuff he forgot to play Harris against TAM. Not being in the thick of keeping his DC. The whole thing just seems to be incompetence. Hopé I'm wrong, hope they get this right but I have no expectation they will.

Could be nothing but check this out! Clancy Pendergast favorited my tweet that he should be our new DC. His Twitter handle lists him as LSU Defensivd Coordinator. I screenshot it, but don't know how to put it on here.

Miles might be a lot of things but he's not stupid. He is the one who brought chavis in in the first place. He knows this is a fluid situation and a critical hire that affects his own career here. I fully believe he will make a great hire if only for the fact that his job depends on it.
