I'm not a coach and certainly not an OL coach, but in football it's my understanding that a center who is in over his head (Chester) is a detriment to the entire OL's effectiveness. And doubly so to a first time player like Mubenga.
That's why I said earlier that Chester trying to be starting center was the biggest disaster of last season.

So he graded out significantly higher than his season average and was better than tryee Adams who no one has concerns about.
That’s not including games like OU against SEC opponents which by your omission means he probably graded out better.
Yet many times people reflexively say he can’t start.
Yeah. I still don’t get it.
Look, if you want to insist that Mubenga is going to be a great offensive lineman this year, I'm not going to stop you. I'm just explaining to you why he gets some hate. I hope he keeps improving.

But it is getting to be weird he only is getting 3rd team reps. I’m just wondering if it is something more…
First off, you have to realize that he has missed a significant amount of time with knee soreness. With the amount of quality depth at receiver, his reps have been going towards other receivers who are more than capable of holding their own & being successful themselves.
Secondly, I wouldn't overthink this. Again, with the talent & depth at WR, the rotations will be numerous to get everyone involved as well as to utilize everyone's talents.

Lmao who said this?
He's going to be the exact same player he was last season according to you, correct?

No? Can you link the post in which I said that? I noticed have have a habit of claiming that people said things that they just didn't say.

Yeah I really don’t get the mubenga hate

You keep posting about his performance last season, calling him the weak link & referring to him as a question mark.

Yes, because he was a weak link last year and there is no guarantee that his will have a substantial improvement, which makes him a question mark in my mind. But again, can you link where I said he is going to be the exact same player that he was last year?

Exactly. The majority of them are the same ones who called Nuss a pussy & wanted to run him out of town when he was held out a bowl game to save his redshirt.

So do you feel the same way about Nuss? Do you think he peaked last season & his play in 2025 will be a repeat 2024?

I don't have to because you have insinuated it in this very thread.

He mentioned 4 at safety and didn’t mention Gilbert. That’s really good news.

Again, I have never said that any player will be the exact same player that they were last year or that they have peaked, so I'm not sure why you keep saying that. But to somewhat answer your question, I do not consider Nuss a question mark because he was good last year.

That's not true. I'm just going off of the latest information that we have. Do you you want me to go off of his high school recruiting ranking instead?

So despite being good, you are saying that his game had no areas that needed to be improved?

Don't crawfish now. Because you continue to harp on Mubenga yet I have yet to see you do this with any other player so far on the 2025 roster.

No, I have not said that and I am not currently saying that. Why do you keep putting words in my mouth?

Because he is the one of the worst returning starters from last year's team. I'll do the same for Chester if that makes you feel better.

It's not putting words in your mouth when you keep insinuating it. Not only are you insinuating but it's become an obsession.

I don't see you having constant posts about Kaleb Jackson or Jardin Gilbert.

Lmao, you keep saying "so you're saying" about things that I never said. I'm not insinuating anything. In this exact thread I have said that I hope he improves.

Well first, neither of those guys are in a position to possibly start. But I have made multiple posts concerned with RB depth, specifically with who our RB2 will be and I have made it very clear that I do not want Jardin Gilbert on the field. So that's a bad "gotcha " post on your part.

Mubenga was improving the last few games of last year. It is not unfathomable that he could improve enough to earn the starting LG spot. At least for now.

agree, very disappointed that Mubenga is considered even close to the best we have a LG. I can't believe that Carne, based on strength alone, wouldn't be a better fit than Mubenga at LG. If one goes back and watches plays from last year, it is appalling that he could be a starter on a top college football team. Maybe he has improved that much, but that would be the most unexpected thing about this team if he has.
WOW!
Posted on 8/18/25 at 7:37 pm to BigBrod81
What? A) he got his knee scoped so he missed time B) he has been back 10 days. He is full go in practice. If he is full go why is he not 1st team? You don’t just put a dude 3rd team to get others reps. That’s insane to think about.
He is getting 0 first or 2nd team reps. He played in the scirmmage yesterday. He is not working back anymore.
