Al Woods looked like tarzan and played like jane and was a combine monster

So wait, are we supposed to be focusing on combine results or functional ability? The people in the camp arguing "LSU's S&C is great because it has Moffitt" can't say both at the same time.

Al woods was not a good football player and S&C had nothing to do with that. Thats all I was saying.

You picked three lineman who are 3 of the very few who have not improved under Moffit

Moffit took big herm and changed him from a soft 360 into a hard low-mid 300s and his play progressed on the field. Drake nevis is one of the strongest pd for pound linemen weve had and showed great progression. I could say the same about Dwayne Bowe on the skill positions. My deal is look at who is trying to steal Moffit. Very respected names at very respected programs want him and thats all I need to know.

Maybe we should do a combine for all the incoming freshmen so we can show all of the idiots how much our players improve in Moffit's weight system.

let's not forget the meltdown when it was revealed that PP7 only did 9 reps his senior year in HS...

Why don't we just wait and see how ready the linemen and safeties are for 2011? We've had a lot of excuses at those positons in recent years. Either the program just hit a rough patch of bad luck (recruiting-wise, injury-wise, and other) and everything will be fine, or else there is a genuine problem. Let's not hyperventilate over who did what at some workout.

I guess it was just plain good luck then that he was S&C coach for 4 different teams who have won national championships.

People just like to find any possible thing to bitch about. Has anyone entertained the thought that the actual PLAYER holds a majority of the responsibility of getting into shape?

As a personal trainer, I know very well how hard it is get a client to do exactly as you say when you are only able to see them a few hours a week. It is your job to plan the strategy to get them into shape, but it is THEIR job to actually follow through on that plan. Considering he has over 100 players to worry about, pointing out how a few players haven't panned out over their career is not only unfair but extremely short-sided.

Isn't Moffit supposed to be one of the best strength coaches

I would argue he needed to go almost as bad as Crowton.

I submit there is no way to know how good Moffit is. I also submit that there is no proprietary knowledge about weight training in LSU's weight room.

This is the truth. Is he good, the best, or not so good? No one really knows. The info that is out there is arbitrary. Each person makes their own opinion on it. I believe that he isn't the worst or he wouldn't have his job, but the best??? Who knows...

FIFY

Remember all the threads last offseason about how much improvement Ben Wilkerson was going to bring. And then after the season as to how much improvement along the OL is directly attributable to him being on staff? I love those threads, and these threads. The student workers in the equipment room are most likely the next targets, as they are the only ones left

Once the players leave LSU and enter the draft, Moffit has nothing to do with them. It's up to the player's to get ready for the combine.

Tommy Moffit is one of the more coveted strength and conditioning coaches in college football. Thats all people need to know because I doubt any one on this board knows anything about strength and conditioning for football at the collegiate level. And if they do, know one actually knows the schedule or amount of work that LSU football players go through. Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas all came after Moffit this year. Others have in the past, including lord Saban.

It's amazing how much fail is in this thread.

^^ This. If he wasn't one of the best, then the top programs in the country would not come after him year after year.

Also, wasn't he less involved in the program a year or 2 ago (when our S&C suffered a little) due to an illness in the family.

Pretty sure it was a serious illness to him, not his family.
